Spreading Joy and Literacy: Read to Lead Teams Up with Klein Fire Department for Holiday Book and Toy Drive

Spark joy with books and toys! Join our drive at Read to Lead, bringing smiles and endless possibilities to children in need.
In a heartwarming collaboration, Read to Lead and Klein Fire Department will be providing small libraries full of books and toys to five deserving families in the community. This initiative aims to create lasting memories and bring joy to children and their families during the festive season.
Joy Harris-Bird, CEO of Read to Lead, expresses her passion for giving back and serving the community, stating, "At Read to Lead, our mission is to ignite a love for reading and empower communities through literacy. Teaming up with Klein Fire Department allows us to extend our impact beyond books and provide a magical holiday experience for families in need. We believe in the power of education and the joy that a good book or a toy can bring to a child's life."
The partnership with Klein Fire Department amplifies the impact of the Reading Reindeers initiative. Ja'Milla C.K. Lomas, Public Information Officer/Community Relations at Harris County Emergency Services District No. 16/ Klein Fire Department, shares their commitment to community service: "While our mission is to protect and serve our community, minimizing the loss of life or property, we also have greater responsibility and vision. We have a saying here that 'We are Klein, we are Klein Fire.' We hold true to those values that charge us with providing the highest degree of service through our words, acts, and deeds, bonding us to Klein and the Klein Family. Helping to give children and families in our community a better holiday, filled with cheer, allows us to continue to serve our community and meet them where they are in need."
The Reading Reindeers Book and Toy Drive encourages community members to drop off new toys or gently used/new books at the designated Klein Fire Department locations listed on the event flyer. Monetary donations can be made by scanning the QR code or contacting info@readtoleadtx.com.
