No One Dies in the Garden of Syn

No One Dies in the Garden of Syn

Vancouver, March 29, 2016 - Michael Seidelman makes his debut in Young Adult fiction with the release of his first novel, “No One Dies in the Garden of Syn,” on April 26th, 2016.

"Synthia (Syn) struggles with cystic fibrosis, an incurable life-threatening disease. One day she is pushed into a pond by an unseen figure and wakes up in a new world – a mysterious garden where illness and death don’t exist.

Welcomed by the garden’s residents and now free of her symptoms, Syn decides to stay. But, before long, she realizes that this apparent utopia holds many dangers and dark secrets.

Surrounding the garden is a fog that Syn is warned never to enter. She encounters bizarre creatures that defy reason. And always lurking in the shadows is a masked woman - a woman who may have a connection to the disappearance of Syn’s parents many years ago. A woman whom no one will speak of, but whom everyone fears.

While No One Dies in the Garden of Syn, Syn will soon discover that some fates are worse than death."

Michael says, “As a kid, I loved stories about secret worlds like Alice in Wonderland and The Chronicles of Narnia. They inspired me to create my own world in a story targeting a slightly older audience. However, I also felt it important to have an explanation for the origin of the secret world the protagonist discovers. It is as much a mystery as an adventure and the answers to the mystery lead the way into the next two books in The Garden of Syn trilogy.”

“While my story is fiction and deals with elements of fantasy, cystic fibrosis is a very real and deadly disease that affects 70,000 people worldwide. While I feel privileged to educate the public on a disease that many people don’t know much about, I also feel a deep responsibility to accurately depict the challenges that a teenager with cystic fibrosis faces on a daily basis. At the same time, I want to tell an entertaining story that is full of mystery, suspense, adventure and heart.”

Michael worked at a large Canadian company for over 15 years, most of that in Online Marketing. Whenever he spent time outdoors, he found inspiration in the natural environment and conjured up the idea for his first book. When his vision for The Garden of Syn was born, he knew he had something special and began working on the series full time.

The novel will be available on April 26th from Chewed Pencil Press in trade paperback format online wherever books are sold and as an eBook exclusively for Amazon Kindle for ninety days before being made available in all other eBook formats. It will also be available in select bookstores.

Michael Seidelman lives in Vancouver, BC Canada where he is working on the next two books in The Garden of Syn series. He is available for interviews, appearances and book signings.
