Debitos debt exchange: increasing numbers of international users

Debitos GmbH is pursuing the international expansion of its debt exchange: already more than one in ten of the 350 investors registered on the online portal www.debitos.de come from outside Germany – most of them currently from English-speaking countries. Interest in the service is growing throughout the entire European area, however. Debitos GmbH can now point to reference customers from Spain, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Poland and Austria. "Our network is growing very fast at the moment, because this new way of trading receivables is also proving very popular in other European countries. We are currently seeing great interest from international sellers and investors", says Timur Peters, managing director of Debitos.

In mid-2014 the debt exchange Debitos launched an English-language version (https://www.debitos.de/?language=english), which facilitates the strong influx of buyers and sellers from outside Germany. Debitos GmbH has now responded to the growing interest by recruiting Peter Riedel, a proven financial expert for the European area. Peter Riedel previously worked on the Balkan region and other areas for HETA Asset Resolution AG, the liquidation vehicle for the bank Hypo Alpe Adria. "We intend to expand the international business significantly in 2016. Sales offices in other European countries are also planned to support that", says Timur Peters.

The online platform operated by Debitos GmbH enables the near-term sale of receivables by means of an English auction. Receivables valued at more than a billion euros have now been auctioned successfully. Banks and medium-sized companies in particular use the portal to divest existing claims quickly and simply at a discount. The first creditors of insolvent company Imtech are currently selling their receivables via Debitos. A medium-sized supplier of Prokon also used the exchange to sell at least part of its receivables. Parties authorised to sell receivables on the platform include banks, funds, debt collection agencies and lawyers.

Debitos GmbH is an online debt exchange where outstanding invoices and loans can be turned into cash quickly and easily. The portal is the first to bring sellers and buyers of receivables together on one online exchange. Debitos digitalises the entire process, including the identification of investors, pricing mechanism and exchange of contracts. The company was founded by Timur Peters in Frankfurt in 2010. Receivables and loans valued at more than one billion euros have already been sold via the exchange.
