Just SA appoints Prof Prieur du Plessis as Board Chairperson

Just SA is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof Prieur du Plessis as its new Board Chairman, effective from April 2023.

Du Plessis has a wealth of experience across financial services, governance and education. He is a business professional and has more than three decades of practical knowledge in professional investment research and portfolio management.

This experience will be invaluable as he takes over the reins of Just SA, which has grown by 270% in the past three years.

The business provides pensioners with guaranteed retirement income for life, an increasingly popular solution in the context of volatile investment markets and global uncertainty.

Du Plessis is a highly qualified, safe pair of hands, a Doctor of Business Administration, ex-chair of the Institute of Directors in South Africa and a member of the Advisory Board of Stellenbosch Business School. He is also the founder and CEO of the investment and governance consulting business, Plexus Holdings. He serves as chair and non-executive director on boards and board committees of public and private companies, primarily in insurance and other financial services.

An advocate for the country, du Plessis is the Honorary Consul General of Slovenia for South Africa, a role in which he is actively involved in developing economic and cultural relations between Slovenia and South Africa. He is also Deputy Dean of the Consular Corps of Cape Town - an entity of 54 countries represented in Cape Town, striving to promote relations with provincial and local government and the citizens of Cape Town and surrounds.

Prof du Plessis succeeds Peter Doyle, who has overseen the brand since the business first started. Doyle's children live in various parts of the world, and he would like to have the freedom to visit them, unrestricted by a Board calendar.

Doyle's incisive thinking and diplomacy have been vital to Just SA's shareholders.
