A Picture Book that Encourages Visibility and Inclusivity -

Motina Books Publishing is releasing Hunter's Tall Tales by Austin author and activist, Rosalie Mastaler, on June 27, 2023. Hunter's Tall Tales tells a fun story, has beautiful illustrations, and teaches young children about disability inclusivity and visibility.

Mastaler is a fierce advocate for the disabled community. At the age of four her son, Hunter, had his leg amputated below the knee because of an accident. In addition to advocating for her own son, she has become involved with many organizations that provide community, connection, and resources for the disability community. These include:
Jordan Thomas Foundation
Challenged Athletes Foundation
Camp No Limits
Never Say Never Foundation
Angel City Sports
No Barriers USA

In 1990, President Bush passed the Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA) and people around the country began celebrating Disability Pride Month in July of each year. Disability Pride is an opportunity for inclusion, to spread awareness, and celebrate disability rights advocates. It is also a time for the disabled community to come together, be visible and proudly share their diverse human experience.

"My goal is to reach young children with this book," states Mastaler. "If they learn how to be inclusive when they're young, they'll continue that behavior for their entire lives."

Here's what people are saying about Hunter's Tall Tales:

"Hunter's Tall Tales is a delightful, fun, and humorous read that raises awareness about differences while modeling compassion, kindness, and friendship. This book is a wonderful way to open up a conversation with young children about inclusion as they continue to learn about the world around them."
-Aileen Weintraub, Author of We Got Game! 35 Female Athletes Who Changed the World

Mastaler is available for school visits and appearances at other events. Contact the publisher for bulk purchases.
