"Reflections Training Academy Apprentice was chosen to compete at the L'Oreal Talent Spotting competition"
Hairdressing apprentice, Remmel Houson from Angela Gaudi Hair Design based in Bristol qualified for the regional semi final of the L’Oreal Talent Spotting competition for her exceptional show work.Remmel entered the hairdressing industry at 16 years of age and has been training with Reflections Training Academy in Bristol for the past six months. Remmel is an outgoing, enthusiast and committed learner; she has got great passion for the industry. Remmel always demonstrates great determination and originality. Remmel Houson and her three models Emma, Steph and Sioned worked extremely hard and achieved great results
Over two hundred people entered the competition and after much deliberation, they chose their favourite 24 mood boards to be ‘’brought to life’’ by their creators in a live stage presentation at the semi-finals. Only four teams were picked to go to the Western regional semi finals which were held in Celtic Manor, Newport on 26th September 2007.
Remmel received great comments from the judges which included: ‘Remmel has massive potential, really dynamic and very refreshing.’
This event is the hottest hairdressing competition and is a fabulous opportunity for new talented hairdressers. The Talent Spotting competition primarily consists of presenting original ideas live on stage to an audience, and a panel of highly esteemed judges.
Remmel Houson was nominated and fully supported by Senior Manager Paul Johnson and Head of Hairdressing Sarah Kendall of Reflections Training Academy, Bristol. Reflections Training Academy encourages young talent and hope that this will inspire and further assist Remmel’s hairdressing career.

Reflections Training Academy is a private limited company founded by Chairman Mr Clive Barrett in 1971. The Chairman of the company has overall responsibility for its operations. The Senior Director of Training Ms Caroline Spencer and the Divisional Director of Training Ms Lucy Agnew in Birmingham along with a Senior Manager in both Birmingham and Bristol are responsible for the management and provision of training.
Reflections provide work based learning programmes for young people aged 14-16 & 16-24 in hairdressing. Training is provided in Birmingham and Bristol Training Academies and at employer’s premises in Birmingham, Solihull, Bristol and Gloucester. Reflections have 18 hairdressing salons located throughout the South West and Midlands and two Training Academies in Birmingham and Bristol.
