Official Rope Supplier to two Barcelona World Race entrants shows off its wares at the world’s largest water sports trade fair

Set sail to boot Düsseldorf 2015 between 17 and 25 January and discover the latest Gleistein Ropes innovations in the field of recreational marine. Among the highlights will be Gleistein’s revolutionary creep-free lines featuring Dyneema® MAX Technology that comprise a genuine wire rope substitute for static applications, such as shrouds and stays, at just a fraction the weight. Also on show will be the new DynaOne® noveni range incorporating Dyneema® SK99 fibres to deliver an extra 20% of performance at the same diameter while retaining the exceptional handling characteristics only textile ropes possess. Gleistein will also put a focus on the Barcelona World Race, which is now in full swing, and in which Gleistein is the Official Rope Supplier to two entrants Alex Thomson Racing on board of HUGO BOSS and the Neutrogena Sailing Team, The Gleistein booth located in Hall 12, Stand A09.

The rope revolution: Gleistein implements creep-free Dyneema® Max Technology
Representing a fully-fledged wire rope substitute for static applications, lines from Gleistein featuring Dyneema® Max Technology are a true revolution. It means that textile solutions which have just a fraction the weight of their steel wire counterparts can now be used for static rigging, such as for shrouds and stays. The groundbreaking new fibre is deployed in DynaOne® MAX and heat set DynaOne® HS MAX ropes, which are both also highly UV resistant and easily recognised by their fire-red ID yarn. On request, this innovative technology can also be implemented for Gleistein’s MegaTwin Dyneema® HS, MegaTwin Dyneema® and TaperTwin for use as halyards.

Stronger than ever: DynaOne® noveni with Dyneema® SK99
Featuring a newly attuned rope construction and incorporating Dyneema® SK99 fibres, performance has now really been taken to the limit with the new DynaOne® noveni range. An additional 20% strength at the same low weight opens up whole new possibilities for demanding users. For even more performance, the optimised heat-set version, DynaOne® HS noveni, version is also available.

On the high seas during the Barcelona World Race
Gleistein is the Official Rope Supplier to two entrants in Barcelona World Race – the world’s only double handed, non-stop, unassisted race around the world – which commenced 31 December 2014. With a total distance of some 26,000 nautical miles that will be covered in around three months, the race represents an extraordinary test of endurance. Gleistein supplied the entire running rigging for the Alex Thomson Racing Team on board of HUGO BOSS as well as the Neutrogena Sailing Team. HUGO BOSS set a blistering pace in the early stages, smashing two previous race records to the Strait of Gibraltar and to the Equator – until dramatically being forced to retire from the leading position due to dismasting. Gleistein will highlight the team’s performance until the unlucky event with special videos at the stand. Meanwhile, the Neutrogena Sailing Team continues to put in a solid performance at the top end of the field and is scheduled to round the Cape of Good Hope during the time of the trade fair. All visitors to the Gleistein boot stand can also pick up an entry form to go into the draw to win a exciting prize: a sailing day on board of HUGO BOSS after its repair and return to Europe later this year.
