In the talk, director and founder Alexandra Grausam and co-founder Elsy Lahner look back on the past 15 years of das weisse haus. This event is thus not only intended to provide insights into the time since its founding, but also to address your questions.

The feeling of being constantly on the move in order to capture the pulse of the times, to constantly create something new and attractive, to keep its profile up to date and to sharpen it in order to present a relevant programe for funding bodies and visitors, but at the same time to ensure a stable foundation and secure working conditions is an ongoing balancing act that requires a lot of courage and practice. The challenges of the art scene are manifold and the pressure of expectations high.

As a place of experimentation, the weisse haus has been geared since the beginning to being a mediated opportunity - for artists, for curators, but also for visitors. It is not about emulating the latest, the best and the greatest - but about being met and welcomed when entering the space. It is about breaking down invisible fears of contact with art and building lasting relationships. In the midst of fair-pay discussions, precarisation, existential justifications, new demands and challenges, das weisse haus has established itself over the years as an institution of entanglement and togetherness.
