Customer Base Grows Fifty Percent in Six Months as Enterprises Select Coverity Prevent SQS to Improve Software Quality and Security

Coverity, Inc., the leader in automatically improving software quality and security in C/C++ and Java, today announced the signing of Calabrio Software, a Division of Spanlink Communications, as the company’s 300th customer. This milestone was achieved following a period of rapid growth over the last 18 months, during which time the company’s customer base tripled in size as organizations continue to select Coverity Prevent™ SQS to eliminate quality defects and security vulnerabilities in their critical source code.

“We selected Coverity Prevent SQS as our static code analysis solution for C/C++ and Java because it finds more critical and must-fix bugs than any other product and delivers the lowest number of false positive results,” said Jay Sillars, Software Engineering Manager, Calabrio Software. “Coverity Prevent will help us significantly reduce the time required to eliminate code errors and accelerate our overall software quality assurance process.”

“The signing of our 300th customer is an important accomplishment, highlighting a period of impressive growth for Coverity across Asia, Europe and the US,” said Seth Hallem, CEO of Coverity. “With the growing complexity of software and rising costs of software quality, static code analysis is becoming a critical capability for companies that need to bring new applications to market on time and on budget.”

Coverity saw strong growth in the mobile devices, telecommunications, networking and security markets, solidifying the company’s market leadership in these segments. In addition to Calabrio Software, other organizations that recently licensed Coverity’s technology include UBS, Philips Medical Systems and ESRI. Coverity’s accomplishments in 2007, to date, include:

• New Satisfiability Engine – Announced today, Coverity’s patent-pending new Satisfiability (SAT) engine delivers unmatched accuracy in static code analysis. Unlike current static analysis engines that rely on dataflow analysis and multiple checkers to identify software defects, the SAT engine is based on Boolean satisfiability and enables multiple SAT Solvers to identify critical software defects.

• Coverity Prevent SQS - An advanced, automated solution that identifies the most critical defects in C, C++ and Java source code. The foundation for Prevent SQS is Coverity’s patent-pending Software DNA Map technology that enables rapid and accurate defect checks through every possible path in C/C++ and Java software.

• www.scan.coverty.com automation - Created in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, new automated code scanning has allowed hundreds of new open source software projects to be analyzed with Coverity Prevent SQS. Over 200 new open source projects were updated to the site since January 2007.

• EMEA Headquarters - To support Coverity’s continued growth in EMEA, the company established of Coverity Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary headquartered in the UK. This office will sell and support Coverity’s complete range of products in addition to expanding the company’s network of the regional channel partners.
