Raytheon Anschütz Announces New Radar
The new NautoScan NX radar transceivers are based on modern hardware- and software infrastructure to achieve highest reliability on a high performance level. With the new radar transceivers network technology replaces analog data transmission through expensive and complex special cables. Radar status and raw video is generated in the transceiver, shared through a digital interface and distributed through Dual Gigabit LAN to an unlimited number of PCs without any analogue losses.
The advantages are that through the digital technology the new radar can provide high-quality raw data and at the same time, applications on the bridge are given great flexibility in processing the radar signals – with all the diverse possibilities of modern network infrastructure. All workstations can access and use the radar video, if needed, which supersedes the current “slave” type of configuration. For a workstation to become master it has to communicate with the transceiver via a secured channel that protects the radar setup from unwanted interference or changes in configuration – the former “master mode” reloaded. Correspondingly the range of applications and requirements is wide – from a single navigation radar on a small vessel to large bridge systems, from a simple “point-to-point” connection setup to a dual-redundant radar distribution network.
The new radar comes with a number of further improvements, such as an improved signal processing for better performance, a built-in-test for easy service diagnosis, an integrated and automated performance monitoring or an innovative “Sleep Mode” to save Magnetron lifetime when radar is on standby.
Additionally, a pedestal which is newly constructed electrically and mechanically will simplify service and reduce cost of ownership. The new pedestal offers a robust, practice-oriented design and improved service accessibility with a simplified handling of the electronics. The maintenance-free gear box further reduces service costs.
NautoScan NX will become an essential component of the new generation Synapsis Radar. Besides the new radar transceivers, the new generation Synapsis Radar consists of a display selectable from a range of different sizes, a newly introduced standard PC with solid-state drive and a fan-less, compact design, the Radar software, and flat-profile antennas with size of 6ft, 8ft or 12ft.
Raytheon Anschütz GmbH is a subsidiary of Raytheon Company and a leading supplier of Navigation Systems and Integrated Bridge Systems for all kinds of commercial vessels, specialized vessels, mega yachts, and naval ships. More than 30,000 vessels worldwide are sailing with Raytheon Anschütz navigation systems and are being served by a global network of own subsidiaries, e.g. in Shanghai, Singapore and San Diego, and more than 200 specialized service stations. In 1905, Raytheon Anschütz was founded under the name Anschütz & Co in Kiel, Germany, just one year after Dr. Hermann Anschütz-Kaempfe invented the gyro compass. Raytheon Anschütz delivers 15,000th Standard 22 Gyro Compass
Raytheon Anschütz, a German-based world-leading navigation system supplier, delivers its 15,000th Standard 22 Gyro Compass in June 2014. Onboard the superyacht “Esmeralda” the jubilee compass will replace an old Anschütz Standard 4 Gyro Compass which has been in operation for more than 30 years. 10 years ago the new generation of the Anschütz Gyro Compass – Standard 22 – was presented at SMM in Hamburg. In the following time the compass
Raytheon Anschütz launches maintenance-free Gyro Compass
With the new Horizon MF the German navigation system manufacturer Raytheon Anschütz launches a new generation gyro compass which can be operated free of maintenance. Horizon MF is Raytheon Anschütz’ new strap down compass system which uses Hemispherical Resonator Gyros (HRG) to measure angular rates for heading calculation. In a strapped-down system angular rate gyros and accelerometers are not gimballed but mounted stationary in a housing. The sensor measures angular rates
Raytheon Anschütz to unveil Navigation Simulator at CANSEC
The German navigation system manufacturer Raytheon Anschütz GmbH in partnership with Canadian-based Virtual Marine Technology (VMT) has developed an embedded, simulation-based training system for the company’s Integrated Navigation System. The new simulator platform will be unveiled at the CANSEC 2013 Defense and Security Exposition, May 29 – 30, in Ottawa, Canada. The comprehensive training solution incorporates a complete set of scenarios, environmental conditions, geographic navigation options, and vessels types to simulate

3D Radar Market - Increasing Adoption of 3D Radar By Airports
The military and defense sector has been constituting a prominent chunk of budget in the economy of all developed countries for a number of years but in the past couple of decades, a number of emerging economies have incremented their expenditure on ensuring safety and security of their nation. This factor has given thrust to the demand for advanced military and defense technologies, among which, the 3D radar market is
Spyware tracking under the radar
The U.S. has seen a massive growth in sales of “off-the-shelf” software to trace an individual’s every move based on the microwaves emitted by their mobile phones. This opens the door to privacy and personal data security issues. The fear of being watched has been expressed by 80% of Americans. The growth in consumer spyware looks set to continue over the next year and it is unclear how it can be
