Laura LeRoy is The ‘Genie of Special Events’

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, July 2, 2014 – Laura LeRoy has been dazzling clients nationwide with her unique event planning skills since the 1980’s. Having brought in the new millennium entertaining the Rockefellers, and having decorated intimate family birthday parties for stars such as Madonna, she has colorful tales to tell about planning special events. For over twenty-five years, Leroy has been growing her award-winning, nationally recognized event planning company, Zohar Productions, which specializes in Moroccan and Arabian Nights themed events.
“I’ve seen it all,” says LeRoy, “from Playboy Bunnies at Hefner’s mansion wearing only body paint and posing with my camels, to a Saudi Arabian Prince’s college graduation party with a security detail armed with machine guns.”
This journey began with a psychic reading. At the advice of a psychic friend, LeRoy, who was working as a fashion designer in New York City at the time, booked herself on a cruise. It was there on the high seas that LeRoy got her first taste of belly dancing, and it was belly dancing that led to Zohar Productions. Laura was so inspired by the performance that she vowed not only to learn the art of belly dancing, but to return as the ship’s performer. Nine months later she accomplished her goal and chose the stage name Zohar, meaning “radiant star”.
After her week engagement at sea, LeRoy moved forward with belly dancing rather than returning to fashion design. She developed a belly dancing telegram service called “Belly-Tellygrams by Zohar.” As her popularity in the New York area grew, so did her company. In 1987, the dancer named Zohar became Zohar Productions. LeRoy’s eye for detail, background in fashion, and general theatricality blended into a mix well-suited for planning events.
LeRoy has a knack for thinking big. Her company has won awards for Best Entertainment in Arizona, and most recently was awarded ‘Best Social Event Over $50K’ by the Arizona Chapter of the International Special Events Society. The event was an Arabian Nights Soiree, for which LeRoy decorated the entirety of a 1.2 acre private estate. For a business that can provide an elephant for an event, no query is too grand.
“I’m no longer daunted by anything. I’m always looking for the next exciting challenge to push my creativity to the limit, giving my clients the ‘Wow’ factor,” said LeRoy.
