New Location and Theme for 3rd LatAm Mine Water Conference

For the third consecutive year, Fleming Gulf Conferences will be hosting the LatAm Mine Water Conference, offering participants comprehensive networking opportunities and key industry insights from regional experts. This year the conference will be held in Lima, Peru on 27-28 August 2014. Water challenges in Latin America have been on the rise, placing the mining industry under additional pressure to use water resources in a sustainable manner.

This year the 3rd edition of the LatAm Mine Water Conference will be unveiled in Lima. Since Peru is endowed with valuable natural resources, being the 2nd largest producer of copper Peru was our next best stop to showcase cutting edge technology and knowledge rendering presentations from various stakeholders.”, stated Senior Conference Producer Ritika Sinha.

The event is being held under the honourable patronage of Autoridad Nacional del Agua (The National Water Authority), Peru and is officially endorsed by Sernageomin, Government of Chile. This year’s theme primarily focuses on the regulatory environments to understand water regulations and social permits.
The event will also showcase ways to integrate over all operations to ensure efficiencies with the objective of minimizing cost.

The inaugural keynote will be presented by Jorge Montenegro, Head of Water Authority, Autoridad Nacional del Agua, followed by a keynote address by Dr. Fernando Castillo Torres, General Director of Social Management office of Ministry of Energy and Mines, Peru. Dr. Torres will provide insight on the latest Government Directives on Water Regulations and Social Permits. Francisco Echeverria, Water General Director – Direccion General de Aguas( Government of Chile) will also be seen talking about the Water Governance Initiative of OECD.

The conference will also feature knowledge specialists including CDP Latin America Director Juliana Lopez, and Country Operations Manager at World Bank Peru – Livia Benavides along with specialists from mining firms Newmont, SAMARCO, Southern Peru, Hudbay Minerals, Minas Buenaventura SAA, and Cerro Vanguardia
