We are pleased to announce the first solo exhibition 'Paintings' by Lawrence Power with new mid- and large-size paintings on canvas.
"When I am away from it, my thoughts revolve around this image. Where has it been before, masked & hidden. I think I have known this image all my life but did not make it visible before. And it is not possible to retrace all the steps that led to this finality ..."

Power's exploration of the boundaries of abstraction and figuration and their dynamic inter- and counteraction gives rise to varied and powerful painting through the deployment of means which mutually enhance each other: gestural expressiveness contrasts with decorative ornamentation, keen color fields meet aggressive collaged elements. The shrill simplification and delicate painterliness of pictorial elements in schemes of composition which interfere with and displace each other are united in potent and deeply mysterious paintings owing only to Power's magic realization.
Lawrence Power, born in Lowerhutt, New Zealand, 1982, lives and works in Berlin. He completed his painting studies at the Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada, in 2005. In 2011, he graduated in the class of Schwontkowski / class of Reyle at the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg.
Galerie Emmanuel Post was established in a studio house in Leipzig in 2004. In 2011, the gallery relocated to Berlin-Charlottenburg. The gallery presents trend-setting contemporary art: Painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, installation, film.
