We are pleased to announce the fourth solo exhibition of Sebastian Rug.

Subsequent to the recognition through the Museum Folkwang, Sebastian Rug (b. 1974) presents his most recent pencil drawings in a solo exhibition in Berlin. Rug develops highly complex compositions of lines from astoundingly delicate elements. "The lines overlap, tie in with each other, change their direction. They form series of lines, orthogonal grids, or fabric-like structures, depending on the drawing. Yet the lines always unite to produce an all-encompassing whole manifestly visible to the eye of the spectator, as the direction of lines can be traced right down to the smallest detail." The works of Rug "provide a unique view of the art of drawing and direct our eye to see the world in a new form" (Dr. Tobias Burg, in: Sebastian Rug. Seeing in Drawing).

Starting in October, the survey exhibition from Essen will travel to the Leonhardi-Museum in Dresden. The comprehensive catalogue 'Sebastian Rug. Seeing in Drawing', published by the Museum Folkwang / Leonhardi Museum, Edition Folkwang/Steidl, 2013, is available.

Sebastian Rug, born in Vacha/Rhön, in 1974, lives and works in Leipzig. After his studies of painting and graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts, Dresden (1996-1998), Rug studied at the Academy of Visual Arts, Leipzig (1999-2004), where he completed his post-graduate studies with Prof. Arno Rink (2004-2006).

Awards and scholarships include: Förderpreis Junge Kunst der Stadt Stadtlohn, summer studio (2006); working scholarship from the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen (2007); working scholarship from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (Else Heiliger Fonds)(2009/2010).
The drawings of Sebastian Rug are represented by the Kupferstichkabinett Berlin, the SØR Rusche Sammlung Oelde/Berlin, the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, Kunstfonds, and the Städel Museum, Frankfurt/Main, among others.

Galerie Emmanuel Post was established in a studio house in Leipzig in 2004. In 2011, the gallery relocated to Berlin-Charlottenburg.
The gallery presents trend-setting contemporary art: Painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, installation, film.
