BITS Pilani Bond with the Best to be a Cut above the Rest

BITS Pilani Bond with the Best to be a Cut above the Rest

For one whole generation of yesteryear BITSians, the word IBM still brings back nostalgic memories for it was that one piece of IBM 1130 Machine which gave ideas to innovators, got them inspired and groomed whole lot of Techies – leaders in real and virtual worlds who today are who is who from Australia to America.

One of the hottest technology topics these days, Virtualization is the creation of substitutes for real resources, that is, substitutes that have the same functions and external interfaces as their counterparts, but that differ in attributes, such as size, performance, and cost. Virtualization benefits include reduction of hardware cost by consolidation, optimization of workloads, IT Flexibility and responsiveness.

On Saturday 08 Sep 2007, with Virtualization as the focus, the IBM Technology Day celebrations took off at the Lecture Theatre Complex of BITS Pilani with Prof Rahul Banerjee’s crisp welcome note. BITS Alumnus Kalapriya Kannan from IBM India Research Labs (IRL) gave a talk on Recent Research in Virtualization which was followed by a talk on Virtualization in P series by BITS Alumnus Radhika Parameswaran from IBM India Software Labs (ISL).
