Gibraltar UTM appliances with web filter and OpenVPN - Gibraltar version 2.5

Attnang-Puchheim (September 10, 2007): The Austrian company eSYS Informationssysteme GmbH, manufacturer of the Linux based Gibraltar UTM appliances has released the new version 2.5 of Gibraltar security software. Gibraltar now comes with a highly efficient content filter for dynamic inspection of web sites and a full integration of OpenVPN as a reliable and simple possibility for connecting remote users to the company network. “By integrating the web filter software of Puresight, Gibraltar now is capable of analyzing web access dynamically and to block and monitor web access according to the company’s security policy”, Dr. Rene Mayrhofer, chief developer of Gibraltar notes.

Secure access of remote users using OpenVPN
In addition to many improvements in the user interface, Gibraltar extends the possibility of building remote VPN connections using OpenVPN. Thus users receive additional possibilities and more flexibility when connecting with the company network. „OpenVPN simplifies the configuration of VPN connections and offers free client software for all popular operating systems”, Mayrhofer remarks enthusiastically about the new feature.
Gibraltar shows that professional security not has to be expensive. With attractive pricing and flexible licensing options Gibraltar aims especially at small to medium sized companies with high security requirements. Schools and universities will receive special conditions and for private users, Gibraltar is free of charge.
Gibraltar emerged 1999 out of an open source software project and is based on Debian Linux. Since 2002, eSYS permanently improves and markets the security solution. Equipped with a comfortable web based user interface, Gibraltar combines several important security applications into one product. The core features are firewall, mail filter, web filter, VPN server and bandwidth management. All these applications are bundled into one product and are available both as a hardware-appliance (Gibraltar Security Gateways) and as a hardware independent software-version.
