Charity Reverse Online Auctions Platform Launched At Oltiby.com

09-05-2007 09:45 PM CET | Associations & Organizations

Press release from: Oltiby.com

JUPITER, FL, 5th September 2007 – Oltiby.com has revealed today its new service called “Charity Buy Blog” which opens up new opportunities for charities and nonprofit organizations to benefit from the growing online auction market.

Charity Buy Blog is a new, innovative way the nonprofit groups can utilize and organize online auctions and donation events. On the opposite of regular forward auctions like eBay Giving Works, charities don’t have to sell any of their assets or material goods. Nor celebrities have to give away their souvenirs, money or other items in order to support their favorite foundation.

The "Charity Buy Blog" is using the opposite model, which is even more beneficial for charities. It is giving them the opportunity to buy more items and grow their internal resources. "Charity Buy Blog" is acting as a private buying space where charity organizations will be able to list items that they need. Users will then bid a "selling price" for which they are ready to sell the item for.

Instead of collecting the proceeds from the buyers (like in a traditional charity auction), charities are the ones buying/collecting items they need at a much cheaper rate. The discounts offered by sellers will act as donations to the charities.

Any charity association will be able to open a "Charity Buy Blog" at Oltiby.com, which will be customized for them, including logo, mission statement and activity descriptions. Each charity group will be able to create its own categories and list any items they are looking for.

"We really think that this new way of using reverse auctions, to reward the work that nonprofits are doing, will improve people’s lives”, S. Reiter, VP Oltiby.com explains. “We believe that fund raising is necessary for charities, but we are offering a reverse auction platform that will allow them to receive products for little or no money or simply accept donations through their own dedicated web page. Charities for schools can list computers, desks or books; medical charities need research tools and man-hours help... There are no limits in what they can buy on Oltiby.com"

Whether or not an organization currently raises money through auction events, it can now economically take advantage of this new "Charity Buy Blog" to increase their assets when buying on oltiby.com, and benefit for sellers donations/discounts. The "Charity Buy Blog" can run all year long (as charities procurement platform) or it can be created for an event/gala specific occasion.
