Feender.com will help students find internship abroad
2013-09-27, Poznań, Poland - Feender.com, a new web portal designed to help students find an internship abroad, is about to launch. It aims at making the process of looking for an internship abroad faster and more accurate. It’s unique feature is how it serves the employers. When looking for an internship abroad Feender.com users can filter the offers using six criteria: trade, type of recruitment, paid/unpaid internship, country, language and sector. They can also create various job alerts which will automatically send an email each time an offer responds the criteria one sets in the alert. Only if one decides to apply using Feender.com they need to pay a small fee. This may grant a possibility to communicate directly with the employer. Note that one can also apply for an internship for free if they submit an internship offer that they already know (e.g. a local one) to Feender’s database.
Marcin Kotus, co-founder, says: “We want to give an opportunity for our users to contribute to the website content. If you find the internship offer that you are not interested you can submit it to Feender.com and apply for another one from Feender’s database which suits you better.”
Employers can submit their offers to the portal completely free of charge. An extra feature is a CV-generator which uses the LinkedIn profile data to fill in the Europass CV-template.
“According to what we heard from people when we discussed the idea of creating Feender.com, one of the major difficulties in applying for a job was preparing a dedicated CV”, says Bartosz Żyła, co-founder at Feender.com. “Our CV generator solves this problem. Moreover, a user will get a CV in a standardised format which is widely accepted in the European Union. Of course, users can still use thier own CV while applying.”
The idea of the startup came up when Żyła returned home from Finland, where he studied as an Erasmus student. After coming back, he decided to continue his international experience, but in a professional field.
“I went through the available offers on the portals which existed at that time and came to a conclusion that actually none of them is easily accessible and it takes a lot of hassle to navigate them and find what you're looking for”, explains Żyła.
Kotus, on the other hand, realised how much he used his experience from a holiday job trip to United Kingdom on the internships he later had. Of course what he learned on the internships was also a foundation of the idea to create Feender.com.
As they observe the labour market and demand for skilled workers, Feender’s founders see that the model of getting a job or finding an internship abroad has changed a lot compared to what it looked like before the 2008/2009 economic downturn. It is much more difficult to get the first job and the value of a university degree is decreasing year by year. The whole situation can be described in George W. Bush’s words: “You can't do today's job with yesterday's methods and be in business tomorrow” which applies as well to employers as the internship-seekers.
“One of our main conclusions from the research we did while creating Feender.com was that professional experience is way much better than finishing almost any curriculum on almost any university”, points out Kotus. Having this in mind, Feender.com is a cure for today’s labour market problems. On one hand there are no jobs suitable for young graduates who don’t have any professional experience and on the other hand there are no skilled professionals to hire. Feender.com removes barriers in getting the right experience and helps to fill the niche for skilled workers in companies, who neither run complex internship programs nor have big budgets for promoting them.
“Our goal is to supply unique internship offers, which differ from what you can find in other internship portals. Offers from big fish of FMCG or business consulting is not our main target. We want to get to SME’s whose offers, if it wasn’t for Feender.com, would be unavailable to find anywhere”, explains Żyła. “There are lots of companies who are not international chains, but export to different countries and would really benefit from hiring foreign interns, who have different cultural background. And on top of everything, hiring an intern is known to be one of cheapest ways to find and train an employee”, he sums up.
Feender.com is a web portal which aggregates internship offers. It was created for students and young graduates who actively plan their career focussed on working in international environment. One of the important goals of Feender.com is promoting the idea of establishing internship programs in companies and developing a new generation of skilled professionals. It’s unique features are: charging only for the application to an offer, not just for access to an offer, and completely free-of-charge service for the employers.
