Onepoint Ships First Update-Release for New HTML5 User Interface
New minor version introduces sub-tasks for JIRA syncing and improves general performance and stability.Raaba/Graz, September 30, 2013 – Onepoint Software, the leading provider of integrated project and portfolio management (PPM) software, has released version 11.1 of its web-based enterprise solution onepoint PROJECTS. The new release provides an enhanced integration for agile project management and improves performance and stability for its recently introduced HTML5 user interface. Across industries onepoint PROJECTS is known as one of the most easy-to-use “real” PPM solutions. Its solid feature set ranges from agile and formal project planning over monitoring and controlling to extensive reporting functions.
One of the cornerstones of the new release is a redesigned integration for agile project management allowing the synchronization between JIRA and onepoint PROJECTS to handle JIRA sub-tasks, in combination with time and progress tracking. This way, when JIRA users split issues or tasks into smaller sub-tasks the aggregated project reporting in Onepoint is still consistent. The completely redesigned integration layer is based on the REST protocol to communicate with JIRA servers. The new integration, requiring JIRA version 5 or later, is faster than Onepoint’s previous approach based on the SOAP protocol.
User feedback drives enhancements
Beside the enhanced JIRA integration, onepoint PROJECTS 11.1 primarily focuses on improving the general performance and stability of the new HTML5 user interface. Building on detailed user feedback to identify the areas needing improvement, optimizing incremental data loading led to significantly faster UI loading times. The developers also sped up in-browser-recalculation of activity lists, schedules, and work breakdown structures.
Easier controlling and documentation
The new release also provides a number of smaller new features such as traffic light trend indicators for the project controlling sheets allowing management to focus on changes of traffic light statuses between controlling cycles. Other new functionality includes the ability to document decisions within a project’s checklist and the specification of absolute billable hours for fixed-price projects.
