Onepoint Kick-Starts Social Project Management with Activity Stream

More human “touch” to further improve already renowned leading usability.

Graz, March 6, 2013 – Onepoint Software, the leading provider of integrated project and portfolio management (PPM) software, has launched a project-based activity stream as part of their latest update to release onepoint PROJECTS 11. Across industries onepoint PROJECTS is known as one of the most easy-to-use PPM solutions. Its solid feature set ranges from agile and formal project planning over monitoring and controlling to extensive reporting functions. The latest major version introduced a completely redesigned user interface based on HTML5 and a visual resource planning tool supporting drag & drop resource assignment. Beside the new “Stream” tool, the new update mainly focuses on performance and stability optimizations for older web browsers.

“Traditional PPM software focuses only on a project’s hard facts,” said Gerald Aquila, founder and CEO of Onepoint. “By introducing a social PM component we want to make our solution not only a little more human, but also to further improve usability.”

The new “Stream” tool shows all major activities and events that happened within each project. Activities and events include project plans that have been released, work that has been started or completed, comments on tasks by project contributors, submitted controlling sheets, and project status changes. The project’s activity stream is a great one-stop place to get up to speed on whatever really happened in a project in the last couple of days or weeks.

For Onepoint, this is only the first step into a new direction that fits nicely into the company’s focus on making project management as simple as possible, but not simpler. By making project management more “human” Onepoint again improves access to the PPM solution by non-technical knowledge workers. Plans for the near future include the addition of avatars for users and adding a social component to Onepoint’s existing integrated skills management module.
