VernissageTV Hits 8,000 Subscribers on YouTube

Basel (Switzerland), September 25, 2013 -- VernissageTV recently reached a new milestone by hitting 8,000 subscribers on YouTube. VernissageTV's Art TV channel on YouTube was created in 2005, regular uploads started in 2007. The channel that is dedicated to contemporary art, design, and architecture now contains more than 1,100 videos that cover art exhibitions and events, and feature interviews with artists, designers, curators and architects.

The VernissageTV YouTube channel is one of the distribution channels for VernissageTV's videos, in addition to VernissageTV's main channel on Blip, VernissageTV's website, iTunes, Dailymotion, and several others. The complete catalog and archive with more than 2,200 videos including full-length versions and Member Exclusives is entirely available on VernissageTV's website.

VernissageTV's CEO Karolina Zupan-Rupp explains that “although YouTube is not our main distribution channel, the 8,000 subscribers mark is an important milestone, as the number of subscribers on this channel is growing rapidly.”

The most popular videos on VernissageTV's YouTube channel are “Ai Weiwei: Sunflower Seeds at Tate Modern, London” with 96,350 views, followed by “Leandro Erlich: Swimming Pool at P.S.1 New York”, and “Cai Guo-Qiang at Guggenheim Bilbao”. Currently, the most popular VTV video on YouTube is “Ryoji Ikeda: Test Pattern 100m Version at Ruhrtriennale 2013” (the video just hit 13,000 views). The viewers on VernissageTV's YouTube channel are currently mainly from the USA, Europe, Japan, Canada, and Latin America.

VernissageTV is the Internet's unique TV art project, which covers exhibitions and events in the fields of contemporary art, design and architecture. The objective is to give an authentic insight into the world of art by the means of film and video. VernissageTV materializes as video podcast / Internet TV channel / video archive.
