Pinellas County, Florida, upgrades its capital project management system to Aurigo Masterworks™

May, 2012 Aurigo is pleased to announce that, Pinellas County, the most populous county in Florida and an enterprise customer of Aurigo since 2006 has decided to upgrade the existing version of its Capital Project Management Solution (CPMS), Aurigo BRIX™ to its latest version; Aurigo Masterworks™.

Pinellas County’s Public Works Department plays a major role in developing and maintaining the County's transportation and surface water management programs. It provides engineering and construction services to other Pinellas County departments, i.e., the Parks and Conservation Resources Department, Community Development, and Real Estate Management.

The department is engaged from doing road repairs to park construction to traffic signal repairs. Before deploying Aurigo BRIX in 2006, Pinellas County’s previous contract management and inspection process was powerful but cumbersome, and lacked automation and sophisticated reporting capabilities, says IT Director Pam Schuler; “The main challenge we faced was the burden of manual intervention. Our staff was constantly creating bids, estimates and change orders. The complexity of managing the construction projects on an ongoing basis was consuming all of our time and energy. Using the manual contract process as the basis for generating pay estimates for our contractors was very time consuming.” In her search for safe, effective CPMS, Schuler approached a series of providers, looking for a company that could address the county's needs with a product built on an advanced, web-based platform. Pinellas County’s search began in November 2006 and, after selecting Aurigo BRIX, the implementation began and got completed in 2007. There has been no looking back!
