Anne Reed skydiving to raise funds for The Margaret Doran Foundation

On 11th of August, 2013, Anne Reed, founder of Paladin Life, a company providing premiere home care, Tavistock area, stepped out of an aircraft at 10,000 feet above Perranporth Airfield in Cornwall, England, for her first tandem skydive to raise funds for The Margaret Doran Foundation.

"It was the most amazing thing I have ever done," said Anne. "It challenged every level of fear for me. It was total sensory overload, but the views were quite spectacular. I did the jump with my partner and son in aid of launching my mum’s foundation, The Margaret Doran Foundation. Our aim is to raise funds so that people who are unable to afford to pay for care or a respite break can be offered a grant so that they can receive the kind of care or break they deserve."

Paladin Life was started last year after Anne's mother passed away. Anne found that the kind of very high quality home care services she wanted for her mother was unavailable in the Tavistock area, so she decided to start her own business. Paladin Life now provides the level of home care she would have wished her Mum to have received.

As well as being able to receive the highest standards of home care, Tavistock's elderly residents can also take advantage of a holiday cottage on the edge of Dartmoor if they need a break. This holiday home comes with full care support, and they can enjoy a holiday there either on their own or with their family.

A holiday home with full care support can be expensive, and it was for this reason that Anne launched The Margaret Doran Foundation in honour of her mother. The foundation provides grants for those who are unable to afford the cost of the holiday home, giving them a well earned break with all the care they need. Anne's dramatic skydive over Perranporth Airfield helped to raise funds for the foundation.

"Ageing is not optional,” said Anne. "When that time comes, people who have worked hard all their lives deserve to be able to relax and be cared for properly in the comfort of their own homes. This is what Paladin Life can do, and The Margaret Doran Foundation is the perfect complement to the high quality home care Tavistock can now offer. While there's no place like home, people need a break occasionally, and my mum's foundation can make that possible for those least able to afford it."
