Kickstarting The Indie Film Festival - NYC’s Winter Film Awards Jumps On The Crowdfunding Bandwagon
The Winter Film Awards team has made it through their first two years, setting themselves apart from the myriad of independent film festivals in New York City by focusing on showcasing the most diverse possible collection of independent films. Now they are calling on the crowdfunding community to help them make it to year three.
On August 13, Winter Film Awards launched a 30 day Kickstarter campaign to help cover the costs of their 2014 Festival. As you probably know, according to Kickstarter’s all or nothing platform, if they do not get funded by September 12, they will lose all of the pledges made during the duration of their campaign.

About Winter Film Awards: WFA is a collaboration of local filmmakers and arts enthusiasts. Their annual film festival held in February consists of three days of film screenings and networking events followed by an awards ceremony. They pride themselves on their diverse collection of films and filmmakers. Last year’s screening selections were a collection of documentaries, shorts, features, animation, music videos and horror films, including 9 student films, 15 female directors and representation from over 15 countries. WFA accept films from artists of all ages and skill levels, but for many filmmakers Winter Film Awards represents an opportunity to have their work screened in front of a large audience for the very first time.
