New Creative Journal Explores the 12 Forms of Intimacy and Connection
No one enters a marriage thinking they will divorce. However, statistically as of 2018 45% of those who get married for the first time will get divorced within 7-8 years. For those who choose to get married for the second time, there is a higher probability that they will get divorced within 6-7 years after getting married. The question becomes, what are the top main reasons people get divorced?
• Grow Apart they discover they have different values, priorities, sexual difficulties and/or religious differences to name a few.
• Communication Problems when one or both partners shut down and avoid discussing difficult topics and assume things will work themselves out. There may also be disagreements regarding household responsibilities and one person feeling they must do the lions share, while the other person gets to enjoy some down time.
• Financial Incompatibility one person may be a spender and the other a saver. One person may feel it's okay to hide purchases and ask for forgiveness later. Money can be an emotional topic and can cause a tremendous amount of stress and presser when unexpected things happen, or a couple is not on the same page in terms of how they will manage the household budget.
The next question becomes, how do you address these issues in a relationship when they are small, or at least prevent the issues from getting so intense they ruin the relationship all together?
Couples need to develop healthy relationship habits. Many people don't take the time to reflect on what they really need, want and desire from their relationship. Many people wait to say something until they feel so frustrated because they are not receiving the love and support they need to feel safe, secure, and supported in the relationship.
Shawna Leady, Mediator & Relationship Coach
Shawna discovered there are 12 forms of intimacy and connection that help people feel loved and supported; as a result, she created the Love More Activity Journal. The Love More Activity Journal explores the 12 forms of intimacy and connection through reflective guided journal prompts and creative activities. The Love More Activity Journal is perfect for anyone who doesn't want to become a divorce statistic and is interested in learning fun and realistic ways to stay connected and engaged to the one they have chosen to spend the rest of their life with.
The Healthy Love Meditation was founded by Mediator and Relationship Coach Shawna Leady. As a divorce mediator, she has listened to hundreds of couples share their stories about how couples work together and what events led to relationship break down. It is through this huge wealth of shared experience that she has gained a deep understanding of the conflicts and stumbling blocks that can make an otherwise great relationship fall apart, and how to work through them to make the relationship stronger.
