What Is Body Contouring & Fat Freezing Treatment?

Springwell Clinics fat freezing treatment, otherwise known as cryogenic lipolysis or cryolipolysis, is non-surgical fat reduction treatment. Where cold temperatures are used to freeze fat deposits on the chosen area of your body, for a period of time with the aim to help reduce the cell size and patients to then notice a decrease in fat on the treated areas.

The most regular areas to be treated are those which can not be targeted with diet and exercise including:
Beneath the chin
Upper arms
Inner and outer thighs
Abdomen
Hips (commonly referred to as love handles or hip dips)
Upper back
Lower back
Beneath the buttocks

The procedure was discovered when investigating frostbite, where the fat cells would freeze before the skin. The cold temperature damages the fat cells which triggers the body to remove the dead or injured fat cells - assisting in targeted weight loss.

Fat cells can be frozen from various areas of the body, with the most common areas being; the chin, arms, love handles, abdomen, thighs and calves, or other areas of which you may be self-conscious.

How Does Springwell Clinic's New Fat Freezing Treatment Work?

Clients are encouraged to lie in a comfortable position, where the desired area is cooled with a cold gel pad. Once the area is numb the fat is then sucked into a vacuum cup, which is lined with cold plates. This is then held in plates for a set amount of time, which may vary from patient to patient. Fat cells are exposed to temperatures between -11°C and 5°C from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the area.

All of our fat-freezing treatments are carried out by a trained professional, who will ensure you are at ease and understand the procedure as well as aware of any necessary aftercare you may require.

Patients may have to return for multiple sessions over the course of several weeks before seeing significant results. The procedure has few side effects, including numb, red and firm skin, or minor swelling and tenderness after.
