Canadian Findmore revolutionize the web by combining portal features with social networking
TORONTO, August 25, 2007 - Imagine a combination of Kijji, MySpace, Facebook, Craigslist and you have FindMore.ca a new Canadian community web site that is 100% Canadian compare to it’s competitors.Unlike other Canadian community sites that are limited in scope or capabilities, FindMore.ca aims to take the online community into a different direction by putting neighbors in touch with each other. The site was developed out of frustration at not being able to find a 100% Canadian owned online service with local knowledge.
FindMore.ca membership is free and allows people to:
- Get to know their local neighborhood and the people in it.
- Search for businesses in the online directory.
- Get recommendations for local services from other members.
- Join forums, organize and find out about local events.
- Get to know like-minded people who don't live thousands of miles away.
- Buy and sell products and services locally or nationally in the free buy & sell section.
Online communities have been growing in popularity over the last couple of years. Sharing images, ideas, music, videos and opinions with virtual strangers, many of who don't live in the same country. At the same time, local communities are suffering, especially in larger cities. FindMore.ca aims to harness the success of social networking to create closer relationships in communities all over the Canada.
“Neighborhood buy & sell networking is the next wave of the Internet, and FindMore.ca are leading the charge, leveraging the power of the Internet to enhance classifieds buy and sell ads with local neighborhoods. It is reinvigorating the category and will change the way that Canadians shop online,” says Torbjorn Zetterlund, Founder of FindMore.ca.
Findmore.ca founder, Torbjorn Zetterlund, says there are millions of people
who would benefit from closer communities. "The proliferation of social
networking sites allows us to talk to and share our experiences with people
on the other side of the world yet we can't communicate with people who
live down the street. FindMore.ca allows users to build community relationships without having to knock on their neighbor’s door."
Bringing people in neighborhoods together and allowing them to contact each other online could also help with local community problems such as crime, bored and misbehaving youth and the environment. Closer communities have lower crime rates, events and out of school activities can be arranged by those with children, and child supervision can be shared. Neighborhood clean up programmers have also proven to be successful when neighbors work together. All this can be facilitated through FindMore.ca.
The Advantages of neighborhood Online Buying and Selling
Whether they live in a major urban area or small rural town, FidnMore.ca lets Canadians tap into their local market in seconds and save the expense and effort of selling on a national level.
Consumers simply log on to the site and register by providing basic contact information. Sellers can begin listing items for sale with photo and detailed descriptions in just a matter of minutes, then watch the email offers come to them. The process is just as simple for buyers. By using maps members can search for members in their neighborhood.
The members and what they need or want from the site will dictate how FidnMore.ca develops over time.
The local information available will also grow naturally through members sharing their knowledge of the neighborhood and posting recommendations.
