Mubarak & Sons endorses Middle East’s premier logistics awards
August 15, 2007, Dubai, UAE: One of the largest land transport companies in the UAE – Mubarak & Sons General Transport – has announced their full support for the region's premier logistics awards, the Middle East Logistics Awards (MELA), by forming an alliance for the MELA 2007 Awards. This was disclosed recently by Khalid Mubarak Al Jafla and Laxman Ramsinghani, Directors of Mubarak & Sons General Transport, after meeting some of the top officials of the MELA Executive Board."We are the number one land transport logistics group in the UAE and we are proud to form an alliance with the region's top logistics awards body," Khalid observed. He further pointed out that Mubarak & Sons believes in MELA's vision of recognising the logistics-based companies, which have placed importance and priority in providing excellent service to their clients.
Laxman confirmed this by noting that their support for MELA stems from the common vision of improving the logistics-based community in the Middle East. "We would like to be aligned with a company that promotes the need for performance excellence among the logistics companies here. The MELA has made a quest for excellence in logistics and we are supporting this endeavour. Along with this comes growth in this sector," Laxman stated.
During the meeting, the two Directors signed an agreement to become one of the Platinum Sponsor of the Second Annual Middle East Logistics Awards, which will be holding its grand awards night on November 6, 2007, at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE.
Joining them for the signing was Aleem Aziz, Chief Executive Officer, MELA Management Office, and Juan Torrents, President, World Federation of Free Zones (FEMOZA), and member of the MELA Advisory Board. According to Aziz, MELA Executive Office is overwhelmed with the positive response given by some of the top companies in the air-sea-land logistics community in the Middle East. "We are very pleased with the response we have been receiving for MELA. Companies like Mubarak & Sons have given their support for our mission of recognising the icons of the logistics community here," said Aziz.
Aziz further shared that the support they have been receiving is a fitting sign of confidence from the logistics sector. "All these vows of support are signs of confidence and acknowledgement for helping make MELA a benchmark of performance excellence in the logistics industry in the Middle East."
Juan noted that as part of the MELA Advisory Board, he is happy with the positive responses that have been coming in for MELA. "I am honoured and happy to be witness to this momentous occasion. The support and response is just overwhelming and helps further the quest for excellence in the logistics industry," Juan exclaimed.
Mubarak & Sons has become one of the most sought-after land transport logistics providers in the UAE. Tracing its roots to its humble beginnings of around five trucks 35 years ago, the company has now grown to a massive fleet of 276 trucks and has further diversified into different logistics-related services.
"We are growing by leaps and bounds. Expansion goes hand in hand to complement this growth," Laxman bared, further adding that they have also come to rely on modern technology to help them maintain a lead in the business. Today, Mubarak & Sons are equipped with the most modern technology available.
"We have got the most modern tracking system. We know where our trucks are, where they are going, and what are they doing. We work 24-hours round-the-clock in a full seven-days-a-week schedule," Laxman added.
Aside from the land transport logistics sector, Mubarak & Sons will soon be foraying into logistics service related ventures like warehousing, freight forwarding and clearing. Khalid shared that the need to go with the flow of growth is necessary in a fast-changing and growing place like Dubai. "Dubai is growing very fast. The place is lucrative and has become a big hub of economic activity. To keep up with this, we have expanded our operations three times in the past three years and each year our company grows bigger by 30 per cent," Khalid explained.
Other organisations which have extended support to the MELA 2007 Awards include Roads & Transport Authority - UAE, DHL Danzas AEI Intercontinental, DP World, Al-Futtaim Logistics, SkyNet Worldwide Express and AMI Middle East.
