SkyRAY Light 1200 Antenna Subsystem

IPTV Applications Supported by SkyRAY Light and New SkyWAN® Modem Technology

Friedrichshafen, August 23, 2007 - ND SatCom, an SES ASTRA company, has introduced a newly designed IPTV contribution solution. The network solution is user-friendly and cost-effective while providing sophisticated satellite communications technology. ND SatCom’s solution for IPTV applications allows live video contribution and video streaming based on MPEG-4/H.264. “It is a unique package for broadcasters and media companies equipping their EB teams or upgrading their ENG vehicles with a satellite uplink to produce and transmit live IPTV content at comparably high quality and reasonable cost,” stated Ulrich Kiebler, VP Government & Commercial. “Furthermore, the network is suitable for operation by non-technical staff,” said Kiebler.

ND SatCom’s solution contains the light-weight SkyRAY Light antenna subsystem – shortlisted for Cable & Satellite International Product of the Year Awards 2007 –, the company’s Antenna Pointing System (APS) and the satellite modem SkyWAN® Compact TΦ which is being launched at IBC 2007 (September 7-11, Amsterdam, booth 1.351). This new member of ND SatCom’s SkyWAN® modem family is the most powerful MF-TDMA modem available in its class. An IP data rate exceeding 10 Mbit/s can be achieved for highest video quality. The SkyRAY Light antenna subsystem allows easy and flexible integration on any passenger car, truck or SUV without mechanical modification of the vehicle.
