Women's soccer in the United States has developed quite differently from men's soccer. Up until the 1970's, organized women's soccer matches in the U.S. only existed on a limited basis. The U.S. Soccer Federation has only recently taken over the top level of American girls youth soccer, the way it did on the boys side, when it launched the Development Academy (DA) in 2007.

Currently, only 65% of soccer organizations offer girls programs across the United States. This statistic is lower in New York State, where only 58% of organizations do so.

Rush Soccer develops boys and girls of all ages starting in elementary school through their senior year of high school. Its goal is to create great athletes technically as well as to develop personal growth within each player. Rush has a nationwide presence with coaches that have elite level experience who help shape successful players at all levels.

The Albany branch of Rush entered the United Women's Soccer (UWS) and United Women's Soccer Two (UWS2) league last summer to bring the highest level of women's soccer to the Capital Region in 2021. Before the summer of 2021, playing opportunities were minimal for college level athletes coming home for the summer in the Albany area. By bringing the UWS to the Capital Region, Albany Rush has created a fun and very competitive community of women, at the collegiate level, to come together and compete at the pro-am level.

Albany Rush's UWS home opener is this weekend on Saturday, May 21, 2022. The match will take place at the Chritian Brothers Academy Stadium Field at 7:00 P.M. E.S.T. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
