Climate protection is well received with onlineprinters.com
Five percent of customers order carbon neutral printed productsNeustadt an der Aisch, Germany – "Since our online print shop has introduced the option of printing orders in a carbon neutral way, around five percent of customers in Europe are choosing the environmentally friendly production each month", Martin Betz, Technical Operations Manager of Onlineprinters GmbH, explains the success. "Since introducing the option in January 2013, we have observed exactly how much the online shoppers are interested in carbon neutral production. The rate has stabilised already after a short time – the interest from other European countries, too, has exceeded our expectations. We are very pleased with this success", Betz further. The German company Onlineprinters GmbH is one of the largest online print shops in Europe, producing a broad range of offset and digital printed products. "Printings simply ordered online!" is the business motto that enables customers to process their print jobs in the online shop http://www.onlineprinters.com themselves and upload their print files.
Each month, around five percent of customers chose the "carbon neutral print" option to offset the carbon emissions by means of emission reduction certificates from climate protection projects. ClimatePartner is the climate protection partner of Onlineprinters. The climate protection specialist is certified by TÜV Austria and offers IT system solutions for carbon accounting – for online traders among others – and has calculated the carbon footprint of the online print shop, allowing the carbon emissions of each single print order to be determined automatically. ClimatePartner provides climate protection projects for Onlineprinters from which customers can select a project during the ordering process to offset the carbon emissions created by the corresponding print order. Among others, customers can choose a forest protection project in Mozambique, a hydroelectric power project in Katuntsi, Bulgaria, and a wind energy power project in Bandirma, Turkey.
Climate protection in the online shop at a mouse click
"Our customers' interest in carbon neutral production is surely due to the convenient integration into the ordering process, the attractive climate protection projects and the transparent processing. Climate protection in the mail order business requires simple and transparent solutions." Betz believes that this is a major factor for many customers of Onlineprinters to deliberately opt for environmental and climate protection. Climate protection in the online shop works at a mouse click: The carbon emissions of each print order are automatically highlighted to customers in the online shop. Customers can decide themselves whether a print order is carbon neutral and offset the calculated emissions of their printed products. On average, the extra costs are currently 0.7 percent of production costs. "This relatively small amount reflects the high standard of environmental protection in our company", Betz explains.
Strong partners for green printed products from the online shop
For climate protection in the online shop to be successful, strong partners are needed who act as the interface between the climate protection offer and its technical implementation in the shop system. Onlineprinters uses the Websale shop system. Johannes W. Klinger, CEO of Websale AG comments: "Because climate protection is a major issue for many people, it should be integrated into the offer of online traders. The unique fusion of our shop system with the climate protection projects of ClimatePartner enables Onlineprinters to offer their products in the online shop in a carbon neutral way. We are pleased that Onlineprinters is actively committed to climate protection and allows customers to contribute their own share to protecting the environment using our system in a straightforward way." Based on the technology of Websale AG, Onlineprinters uses the inventory management system VS/4 from D&G-Software, which offers flexible software solutions for mail order businesses: "The great flexibility of VS/4 allowed the attributes Onlineprinters needs for the climate protection project to be added quite easily", Andreas Brenk, manager of D&G-Software GmbH, outlines the implementation in the inventory management system. "The seamless integration into the shop furthermore enables a high degree of automation in exchanging data, thus contributing significantly to the project's success", Brenk further.
"Our track record shows: Mail order businesses need simple and transparent solutions. We are glad to have found competent partners in ClimatePartner, D&G-Software and Websale who have supported us in integrating carbon neutral print orders in the online shop of http://www.onlineprinters.com. Together, we have created a great offer for our customers to the benefit of the environment", Betz thanks the e-commerce solution specialists in climate protection.
