GALERIE Supper at “The solo project” 2013 Basel

In the past years this art fair is grown to a very important place for contemporary art. By the side of many renowned international galleries, the GALERIE Supper is going to show a solo exhibition of the artist Monika Thiele, whose works are also exhibited at this year’s Venice Biennale.
Monika Thiele (*1966, Erfurt), which is represented exclusively from the GALERIE Supper, creates with her “Fadenbilder” (Thread-Pictures) images of humans with an emphatic presence and great intensity. With coloured yarn, she spans a close, literally speaking substantial net, in which the feelings, the hopes, the wishes, but also the pain and the inner disunity of her figures are captured. The look of the spectator gets deeper and deeper in the picture, but also in the emotional life of the figures. Her net of yarn shows the vulnerability and complexity of the human mind.
The GALERIE Supper is specialized in contemporary art.
Founded in 2002 it opened in Baden-Baden in 2012 with its current profile. The gallery promotes young, emerging artists with an unique signature. It is the intention to correlate them with renowned artists. Their positions should complement and stimulate each other, whereas every artist keeps his own characteristics.
