Kathak inspired workouts for Women by Fitbee

Kathak inspired workouts for Women by Fitbee

As we all know, Kathak is one of the oldest dance form with strong Indian roots. Kathak originated in Hindu temples as a storytelling device for portraying epic tales from Ramayana and Mahabharata. The precise and pulsating footwork, the detailed carriage of the upper body, hand placements, and facial expressions demonstrate Kathak's diverse cultural influences. This dance form is a truly focussed type of art that requires plenty of concentration as well as rhythmic synchronization of the body and mind.

Kathak requires focus, stamina and endurance. These are just a few factors that connect Kathak to fitness.

The founder of Fitbee, Prathima Koppolu was an ardent Kathak student till her teens. After a long break to pursue her education at BITS Pilani and Univerty of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, she picked it again with her Guruji, Mrs. Sonia Maharaj. Prathima says, "Reconnecting with Kathak makes me empowered and brought me closer to our culture and tradition. Being the founder of a women's fitness company with clients all across the world, we are constantly looking at providing new forms of exercise routines to not only help clients reach their goals, but also keep their interest in staying fit for a sustained period of time. This is what inspired me to launch the Fitbee Kathak Inspired Workouts with the blessings of my Guruji. These workouts focus on breathing, cardiovascular exercise, speed, flexibility and balance training, and is suitable for all those who are looking for improving flexibility, losing weight and reducing stress while keeping in touch with our culture and origin."

One can now experience the fun and energy of Kathak while focussing on their fitness goals. The Kathak inspired workouts are for everyone, and do not require any prerequisite skill in Kathak. Prathima is also an advocate in making emotional health a priority, and has been on the path of helping women overcome their physical and mental issues.

Apart from workouts, Fitbee also provides personalised diets charts based on one's goals, likes, tastes and schedule.

Classical dance festival goes online, making art accessible globally
Like so many arts organizations, the New York Kathak Festival (NYKF), a nonprofit that presents the Indian classical dance form, kathak, had to cancel its flagship event this April. Dance, music, and theater cancelations have been devastating to artists and audiences.
