CALVENDO: Publish your own creative ideas as calendars or

The self-publishing platform CALVENDO, based in Germany, has expanded its publishing network to sell individually created projects on the German book market.

April 03, 2013 - Photographers, graphic designers, designers, writers, artists and creative individuals from around the world can now create and sell their own calendars and flipart (decorative poster books) online at no cost. The company behind the concept is CALVENDO, a new German online platform created by the Cornelsen Publishing House. As of April this year, the startup also gears towards international users who want to present themselves and their creations in the German publishing market and earn money at the same time. Professionals and creative amateurs can make use of the platform.

www.calvendo.de/en is the first platform for self-publishers, helping artists create and sell their individually created calendars and flipart. Users of the platform have access to the services at no cost and receive an incentive of up to 30 percent with each item ordered. The selling price is determined by the artists themselves and they also retain the rights to the images and content of their work.

“Many people have created their own calendar or flipart themselves before. We now set the stage also for creative minds in English speaking areas, to reach a vast audience with their individual artwork. Not only are they able to gain profit from their own creations, but without taking any financial risk in the process. CALVENDO relieves the artist from any sales pressure by providing a platform that takes care of production, distribution and handling, which is only made possible with the great support of our partners”, states Hans-Joachim Jauch, Managing Partner at CALVENDO.

CALVENDO provides all the necessary steps to make this process as easy as possible, including providing the calendar software for the design, high quality printing options, invoicing and fee payment. The uploaded products will undergo a strict quality control. First the content is checked to make sure all information is accurate, and then the quality of the uploaded data files is assessed to ensure a printed copy at full resolution. Once the project is approved, it receives an international book identifier code (ISBN) and will be made available in German book stores. The calendars and flipart are produced in Germany as soon as the order is received. Once uploaded, calendars can consecutively be updated to the current calendar year.

CALVENDO wants to create an extensive collection of online calendars and flipart available for print, which cannot be found elsewhere in the publishing market. Some of the most popular categories and topics on the platform are nature, places, art, people and mobility. Within these categories, CALVENDO sets no limits to creativity and ideas and is happy to provide pointers when choosing a topic.

With the slogan “Share Creativity”, publishers can manifest their ideas and share them via printed calendars or flipart with others. Already existing examples can be found in the CALVENDO library at www.calvendo.de/en.

About CALVENDO
CALVENDO (http://www.calvendo.de/en) is a subsidiary of the Franz Cornelsen Bildungsgruppe and the first publisher to create an online platform where creative and talented individuals are able to publish and distribute their photo calendars and flipart via online book stores and retailers. CALVENDO archives the digital calendar layouts with an international book identifier code (ISBN), and produces them on a print-on-demand basis. The purchase orders are processed by online retailers and other official partners. Independent creatives and flipart or calendar producers can use the platform at no cost and will receive up to 30 percent of the publishing revenue of each of their items sold. Users will retain all rights to their artwork.
After the successful launch of the platform, already more than 3.800 calendars and flipart in a variety of formats are available for purchase from several hundred different authors.

The technical development of the innovative platform has been created by PASDA, who provides an online print-on-demand service for photo calendars and photo books (www.meinBildkalender.de).
