From Have to Share: Logistics People Looking for New Ways of Cooperation Shareconomy – the motto of the CeBIT 2013 is already lived in logistics / cross-company collaboration via internet

Frankenthal, March 25th, 2013 – Whether it is the logistics provider DHL Freight, Fenthol & Sandtmann or the automotive supplier Leoni: All three companies follow an IT trend which is catching on more and more in the controlling of global logistics processes; they no longer manage their delivery chains through in-house IT systems but through available IT platforms which allow for easy and quick networking of cooperation partners all over the world.

"Through the cloud-based IT solution AX4 we have configured an international procurement solution for 1,000 suppliers which is now already being used continuously by 84 per cent of our suppliers in less than five days" said Jens Richter, Head of Business Development & Customer Integration at DHL Freight, at the 12th PraxisForum Logistik by AXIT AG in Frankenthal. "The solution guarantees optimized network utilization and gives our customers the chance to track their shipments on the internet."

"Sharing instead of having", the guiding theme of a new "Shareconomy" which was already propagated at the computer fair CeBIT is also becoming a model of success in logistics. The demand for quickly available and economical IT solutions for which companies neither need to invest in hardware nor in time-consuming software development is rising. "Cloud technology today makes it possible that companies are collaborating together as a team in cross-company workflows", explains Frauke Heistermann, member of management at AX4's operator AXIT.

IT solutions like the logistics platform AX4 support companies in their efforts to work more efficiently and to produce in a leaner way. In his speech Kay Krauth, member of management at Fenthol & Sandtmann, explained how the logistics service provider, enabled by the cloud-based logistics platform AX4, takes over the function of a control station for Porsche Leipzig, through which the company controls the exact delivery times for a network of 550 suppliers. "We have completely automated our processes from the call-off up to pre-alerting the delivery date", Krauth complemented at the AXIT PraxisForum. The transparency of processes today enables the logistics provider to control the transport orders up to the tiniest screw synchronously to production. "We know exactly when which vehicle will be built", says Krauth. It was for this form of "high-frequency procurement logistics" that the logistics provider was awarded as "Best Supplier" by Porsche in 2012.

Also the automotive supplier Leoni profits from the synergy effects which cloud-based IT solutions like AX4 offer their users. The IT platform creates a continuously high degree of transparency on any move of goods and simplifies operations through centralized access to data and documents on one transaction. The goal for Leoni is to successively connect up to 1,500 suppliers and local forwarders to AX4 and thus to integrate them with their worldwide procurement network.
