Consolidating Driveline, Process and Machine through System Simulation
CAE specialist ITI exhibiting at this year’s biggest industrial fairs bauma and Hanover FairDresden, February 21, 2013 – ITI GmbH, one of the global leaders in CAE and system simulation, today announced it will be exhibiting at the two biggest industrial fairs in Germany this year – the Hanover Fair from April 8 to 12, 2013, and the bauma from April 15 to 21, 2013, in Munich. The IT company from Dresden, Germany, will showcase new developments in the fields of modeling, simulation, analysis and plant engineering. Visitors will see first live demonstrations and video animations of upcoming features from the next SimulationX version. Scenarios and examples from recent customer projects will illustrate how plants and mobile machinery can be developed through virtual prototyping for integrated, energy efficient, standards compliant and safe operations.
bauma 2013: Multi-Physics System Simulation of Mining Machinery
At the bauma 2013, ITI will show the vast range of model libraries, interfaces and analysis options in SimulationX, a multi-physics system simulation software, and how customers made use of them in recent projects. ITI engineers will demonstrate how SimulationX users can model and simulate critical scenarios, such as emergency shutdowns under maximum loads, without putting personnel or equipment at risk. Through video animations, visitors will learn how to model and virtually commission entire powertrains and controller layouts for real-time applications by the help of ready-to-use model libraries and how to simulate typical operating modes systematically in order to achieve optimized layouts. ITI will also show how crane constructions can be optimized in line with the recently revised industry standards EN 13000 and EN 13001.
“During the development of new drive systems and controller layouts, SimulationX has proven itself through versatile and authentic parameterization options.” explains Uwe Heuer from ABB Automation GmbH the benefits, and Dr. Mario Dilefeld, TAKRAF GmbH, adds: “SimulationX allows us to quickly and safely calculate dynamic effects in challenging belt conveyor projects.”
Throughout the entire process chain – from extraction and handling to storage and loading – SimulationX and ITI’s engineering services support the development and optimization of mining equipment and machinery. SimulationX, the multi-physics software for modeling and analyzing mechatronic systems, ensures the development of reliable, energy efficient and safe machinery for mining and bulk material handling. In the light of ever-increasing requirements for operational safety, energy efficiency and optimization, this approach gains more and more traction in the fields of heavy machinery and plant engineering. The broad spectrum of ITI’s customers from these areas, such as classification societies, engineering companies, manufacturers and operators of cranes, heavy machinery, mining and bulk material handling equipment, is evidence of a substantial demand. This spectrum comprises industry pioneers, such as Aker Solutions, CNH, DNV Crane, Herrenknecht, Hitachi Construction, Huade, Komatsu, Liebherr, MIT Holland, NOV, Putzmeister, Shantui, SKF, Taiyuan, TAKRAF, Tenova Mining & Minerals and TTS.
Hanover Fair 2013: Consolidating Driveline, Process and Machine through SimulationX
At the leading trade fair “Motion, Drive and Automation”, ITI will give a preview of the highly anticipated next version of SimulationX which will ensure an even more efficient and comprehensive approach to the system as a whole consisting of driveline, process and machine. Visitors will get exclusive demonstrations showcasing the latest results in the development of the software SimulationX and can test enhanced as well as new features at the booth. The professional audience will learn how new model libraries and ready-to-use sample models for fluid power and drive system applications can help to analyze dynamic effects also in modern hybrid and mechatronic systems for the systematic reduction of undesirable vibrational behavior of components, subsystems and entire installations. A new ship propeller model is available for ice impact studies as well as new models for three-dimensional transmissions in multi-body systems. Real-time simulation will also play an important role. ITI’s engineers will demonstrate how interactive simulation can improve the understanding of a system’s overall behavior. In experiments, visitors will be introduced to the new real-time synchronous simulation mode and its capabilities for designing controller layouts and optimizing parameters interactively. Furthermore, ITI will show the enhanced CAD import, which now also supports CATIA, and a collection of add-ins for a seamless exchange of parameters, variables and simulation results with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint with the option to embed it in automated scripts.
For 23 years, ITI has been known for foresight and expertise in the virtual development of groundbreaking technologies. The company’s presence at the Hanover Fair 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of ITI’s participation. And so the CAE specialist looks back on two decades of virtual product development and gives an outlook on new CAE trends in fluid power and drive technologies. “The fiscal year 2012 is the best yet in ITI’s history. Turnover, the number of customers and staff could be increased across the board. Business abroad, in particular, continued to thrive throughout 2012. SimulationX software was sold in 20 countries and is used in 15 different industries.”, says Jens O. Schindler, General Manager at ITI, and goes on to say: “System simulation as a whole keeps gaining momentum, and model based product development tools are used more and more consistently to allow for the assessment of a multitude of variations early on during the design phase. SimulationX will remain a key factor of influence on future trends and developments through various applications.”
At the Hanover Fair 2013, ITI will be at the MDA in hall 25, stand E01, and at the bauma 2013, ITI can be found in hall A3, stand 401. There, the company will also give a presentation on “System Simulation as Competitive Advantage in the Development and Operation of Mining Equipment and Heavy Machinery” at the bauma forum on April 4, 2013, 1:30 pm.
