My Bear Jeff Last Week For Double Giving
Rachel Cohen, Chief Bear Officer, announces December 20 marks the final week for My Bear Jeff’s double giving which will end December 24, 2021.For each bear purchased, My Bear Jeff will provide two specially designed teddy bears to children in trauma. The bears will be provided to area organizations working with kids in need.
“The response to our double giving campaign has been really gratifying. As the holiday season winds down there is a still great demand for children to have something special to hold on to during a difficult time in their lives. We want to provide Jeff teddy bears to as many youngsters as possible” Cohen said.
“For example, Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, one of our nonprofit partners, has an abundance of children who can use a teddy bear. The bears this season are going to the critical care unit so kids that need an ambulance, life flight or are in very critical care can feel more secure as they cuddle with their new furry friend,” said Cohen
My Bear Jeff is an outgrowth of Cohen’s own trauma she faced at age four. Born with a heart defect, she went through a rare procedure and it appeared her life expectancy was going to be short.
Cohen’s family even took family photos of her prior to the procedure as they did not know if she was going to live through the experience or face long term issues.
Now 30, Cohen says her teddy bears helped get her through it, and provided great inspiration to create a mission to help others. “Even though I did not know much about toys, stuffed animals, or manufacturing, I was able to find great partners to help me with the process. I am thankful to everyone who has helped us bring joy to so many going through a traumatic period in their lives.”
Customers have different options of purchasing one bear and donating it directly to children to a pre-determined child’s related charity.
