Zetane Systems Surpasses One Thousand Users of Software for Detailed Visuals of Machine Learning

[Montreal, Canada; December 14, 2021] Zetane Systems announced today a new milestone for the Montreal-headquartered company specializing in industrial applications of artificial intelligence (AI). Since its release in January 2021, this December marked over 1000 users of the company’s flagship software tool, Zetane Viewer. Matched with the brisk growth in users is the international distribution of the software that now spans over 34 countries, the top five being in Canada, the United States, India, Germany, China and South Korea. The latest Viewer, version 1.7.0, remains free for download at the company’s website and at the collaborative software development platform, GitHub.

Made possible by the company’s patented technology and recent innovations in modelling and simulations, the Viewer provides in-depth and intuitive displays of the structures, components and statistics that comprise artificial neural networks and their processing of data. These tangible visuals of otherwise abstract technology provide new means to streamline tasks related to optimizing the performance of machine learning models. New abilities to inspect the inner workings of this complex technology also provide greater transparency to what is commonly critiqued as “mysterious black-box algorithms”, thus enabling new means to understand and safety test innovations in AI. The graphical user interface of the software is of particular utility for real-world applications of computer vision; however, the visuals also prove useful for projects that implement data other than images and videos.

This May marked a significant development for the Zetane Viewer when the visualizer acquired the certification as a supported software tool for the ONNX community. This consortium of leading technology companies of the likes of IBM, Amazon and Tencent define international standards for the representation of machine learning algorithms.

As someone without a background in machine learning, I can attest as to how visuals of the technology allow me to contribute towards building our own in-house AI solutions for industry. Further opening up access to AI to non-experts like myself will continue to be the main goal of future features for the Viewer,” said Jonathan Magoon, Chief Product Officer at Zetane.

Having provided means to visualize models, the company now sets its sights on the second essential component of artificial intelligence: data. Early next year Zetane aims to launch data testing services for computer vision models. The list of assessments on the quality of datasets will include intuitive and detailed visual assessments that are equivalent in detail to that of the Viewer.

The company’s new focus on data quality assessments comes at a time when thought leader and leading researcher in AI, Andrew Ng, claims that the technology sector needs a data-centric approach to AI. Ng believes better strategies to improve data quality are essential if we are to surpass current standards for performance and accuracy in machine learning.
