DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, 16th January, 2013 – Blue Coat Systems, Inc., a market leader in Web security and WAN optimization, today announced that IDM, Lebanon’s leading Internet Service Provider (ISP), is optimizing the delivery of Web content with Blue Coat® CacheFlow® appliances to improve customer experience and reduce bandwidth costs. By significantly reducing IDM’s server footprint and related management expenses, the CacheFlow appliances provided an immediate return on investment.

Utilizing next-generation caching technology, Blue Coat CacheFlow appliances scale content delivery to meet burgeoning subscriber demands without additional bandwidth. With the newly deployed CacheFlow appliances, IDM can seamlessly scale to accommodate the sizeable increase in network traffic and subscriber growth that will be driven by increasing Internet penetration in the region and the growing demand for rich Web 2.0 content.

Samar Khalil, network management department director at IDM comments, “We needed a solution that would help us greatly enhance the surfing experience for our customers without driving up our operational expenses. Blue Coat's CacheFlow appliances provide the most efficient caching solution and meet all our expectations for higher throughput and improved quality of service. As an added benefit, they are free-running appliances that need minimal configuration and maintenance.”

Blue Coat CacheFlow appliances accelerate the delivery of rich-media Web content, including large files and video content, by caching content closer to the users.

“The advanced caching technology that is at the foundation of our CacheFlow appliances ensures they are uniquely able to maintain a high rate of effectiveness even as the Web changes,” says Hussam Abusamra, regional sales director at Blue Coat Systems. “For service providers like IDM, the ability to cache the most popular and bandwidth-intensive Web content closer to end users ends the cycle of constant bandwidth upgrades to support a growing number of subscribers accessing increasingly richer content.”

Established in 1985, IDM is regarded as being among the pioneers in bringing the digital universe to Lebanon. The service provider is committed to supporting new technologies and maintaining peak performance to link individuals and corporations with the global marketplace.
