Federal Agencies Grapple with Data Quality and Data Management
Rockville, Md. — Federal market research and Federal contracts intelligence provider fedXccel is reporting that Federal Agencies have major initiatives in the area of data warehousing and business intelligence. There are over 52 major Information Technology programs in 18 Federal agencies with requirements for gathering, analyzing and presenting large amounts of data. These programs collectively represent a budgeted spend of over $170 million in Fiscal 2007 with an expected increase in 2008. These numbers do not include other embedded data quality and data warehousing initiatives as part of larger programs.“The proliferation of Information Systems to manage critical government functions has created huge data silos,” said fedXccel chief Gaurav Pal. “There is an ongoing need for federal technology practitioners and system integrators to deploy new technologies and techniques to manage this growing data pile.”
This growing demand for data warehousing and business intelligence expertise has spawned the need for specialized programming to help keep technology practitioners up-to-date.
“We realize that effective information management is key for federal program managers responsible for operating these large and incredibly complex systems,” said Mike Smoyer, CEO of Digital Government Institute. “That is the reason we decided to produce a high quality educational event aimed at helping federal agencies and systems integrators learn about the latest techniques in business intelligence and data management.”
DGI has hosted a public list of the top-10 Federal IT Dataware housing programs on its website (http://www.digitalgovernment.com).
