Beike-produced stem cells and related research were utilized recently in treating a 13-year-old diagnosed with spina bifida

Beike Biotechnology, located in Shenzhen China, is one of the world’s leading research organizations when it comes to stem cell research. Most recently, Beike-produced stem cells and related research were utilized this summer by Qingdao’s Chengyang People’s Hospital in the treatment of a 13-year-old young man diagnosed with spina bifida.
Spina bifida is a medical condition caused by congenital or birth defect. It results in an incomplete covering or uneven development of the spinal cord or spinal vertebrae. The condition can range in severity, from a small gap between the spinal vertebra to large openings in the vertebrae from which portions of the spinal cord may protrude or bulge. In some cases the spinal cord is exposed, which can lead to severe infection.
Upon admittance, the boy, diagnosed with spina bifida with myelomeningocele, the most severe form of spina bifida, had normal function of his face and upper limbs but decreased neurological motor control over his lower limbs, with his ankles and feet measuring the lowest scores in motor control. The young man enjoyed adequate control of his upper body and upper arm limb movements, but was unable to control movement of his legs and lacked muscle strength necessary for normal support.
Doctors at the hospital noted the boy continued to show some muscle contraction, which was a good sign, but he couldn't move his ankles and feet. At admission, the young man had also experienced bilateral loss of sensation in his ankles and in his spine, specifically in the sacro-coccyx (tailbone) area, accompanied by poor muscular control around the perineum.
Stem Cell Treatments Derived From Beike-Produced Cells and Research
The Serbian youth underwent a half dozen intravenous (IV) stem cell injections utilizing umbilical cord blood derived stem cells, more commonly known as UCBSC. These cells were produced at Beike’s laboratories and the medical treatment provided by Chengyang People’s Hospital. No side effects were reported for each of the IV delivered stem cell treatments, but the patient did display moderate improvement after the first four IV injections in balance, walking, standing up and overall movement capabilities. The youth also displayed moderate improvement in limb muscle strength as well as his torso muscle strength following his fourth and fifth stem cell treatments.

It was reported by the Chengyang People’s Hospital doctors that the young boy’s overall strength showed "significant improvement" by his fifth IV injection, as well as significant improvement in his range of motion and mobility by his sixth injection.

One month after his last stem cell injection treatment, the family reported that the young man was enjoying a marked improvement in his quality of life, and was able to state, "I'm starting to feel the feet, and tingling from the knees down."

Beike Biotechnology
Beike’s intensive scientific research into regenerative treatments along with world-leading stem cell production methods have allowed partner hospitals to offer treatment to patients diagnosed with neurological issues, including multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy as well as spinal cord injuries and muscular atrophy. Beike Biotechnology is also focusing much of their research and development to finding treatments and relief of symptoms for autism, visual impairment, and other diseases that gradually decrease mobility, capability, and quality of life.

Beike focuses on the umbilical cord blood derived stem cells as well as umbilical cord derived stem cells and autologous bone marrow stem cells. Stem cells are injected through intravenous (IV) spinal or lumbar puncture (LP) or CT-guided injection sites in the body.
