Press release from: Career Change Solutions

Career coach today launches Career Change Solutions, a website dedicated to helping people find more fulfilling careers.

January 3, 2006 – At this time of year, many of us make New Year’s resolutions in an attempt to make our lives better. With over 80% of employees dissatisfied with their jobs, maybe it's time we thought about changing one thing that can have a significant impact on our own happiness and fulfillment and can make this year better than the last. Maybe it’s time to change careers.

For many, changing career can seem too difficult. Self-limiting beliefs prevent us from moving forward – beliefs such as thinking we’re too old to change career or that our skills are too specific to our current industry and cannot be transferred.

Even when we’ve overcome our self-limiting beliefs, we’re faced with the challenge of trying to decide what we would like to do instead – we just can’t figure out what we could do that we would enjoy and would still be financially rewarding.

So what can someone do to make sure they find a fulfilling career?

According to Martin Goodall, Founder and Executive Coach at Career Change Solutions, the following steps will keep career changers on track:

Step 1: Assess your career so far – identify the real motives for changing your career, look at the activities you like being involved in, decide on your personal strengths, identify main accomplishments, and establish your key values.

Step 2: Identify and research new career options – research the types of careers that play to your strengths and the activities you enjoy and the organizations that share your values.

Step 3: Market yourself – get your resume in order and be creative in the presentation of your strengths and achievements, highlighting the activities you enjoy and making sure your values are clearly represented.

Step 4: Refresh your job-hunting skills – research companies and opportunities, improve your interview and negotiation skills.

Step 5: Get out there and network – over 80% of jobs never get advertised as they are filled through networking contacts and introductions.

Step 6: Find a coach or mentor – identify someone who you can talk to about career options and who can help keep you motivated through the rough patches.

Step 7: Be Flexible – be as flexible as possible in all areas, including location and salary, and revise your expectations when necessary.

More detailed information on each of the above steps can be found at www.CareerChangeSolutions.com. By following these simple steps, career changers can feel confident they’re on the right track.
