Quipos One in the Usability Laboratory: Quipos Handheld Convinces Users and Testers

Salzburg, October 31, 2012, Quipos One, the innovative professional handheld device from Solutions GmbH performed convincingly in the usability test. Quipos Solutions equips event organizers of all kinds with innovative mobile technology for sales, monitoring and data logging, which can be easily integrated into existing systems. The handheld device had to be subjected to an intensive practical test in the Usability Laboratory. The result: passed with flying colors!

The Quipos One handheld device makes it possible for staff at events, personal transport, trade fairs and hospitality to carry out all tasks, from ticket sales and validation through hospitality to visitor surveys, all with one single device. An investigation was carried out in Cure’s Usability Laboratory in Vienna to find out how ergonomic and user-friendly the innovative Quipos system is. For two weeks, men and women between the ages of 20 and 40 years, both novices and pros, tested the Quipos One.

Before they got to the hard tests, the testers defined their expectations. The responses were just as diverse as they were challenging. Ease of use was just as important as an ergonomic display and reliable hardware. High performance and secure data transfer were also expected. Instead of stylish consumer devices, reliable pro technology should be applied.

The Test
In the practical test, the testers the testers put the Quipos One into operation without prior training or instruction, connected it to a mobile printer and changed the settings to their requirements. Then tickets were sold in the first stage, which were paid for by credit card. After this, the users had to validate these tickets with the same device at a simulated access check. In the last part, snacks and drinks were sold with the Quipos One and the ticket was also recognized as a credit note.

The Result
The professionals from Cure were just as surprised as the developers from Quipos Solutions: all testers solved all tasks - not a single test needed to be aborted. The evaluation showed that the device gave a very professional impression to the participants. It was mostly the large range of functions and the flexible usage possibilities that were received well, but also the ease of use and its good ergonomics.
