Name And Logo
You should open with the name and logo of your company. You might be wondering why the business is focused, and discussed first. The company name and logo are the most important for first impressions. Moreover, these are what investors are going to see first. It’s what they’ll want to invest in and the name and logo play a big role in the success of a business.
When choosing a name and a logo, make sure to put a lot of heart and thought into it. In startup pitching, one of the most important elements is storytelling. You need to be able to tell a story with your company’s name and logo immediately. The better the story, the better the pitch.
This part of your investor deck should also include important details such as your contact information, business address, and of course, the core members of the team that are a part of the company as well. Always remember to focus on highlighting your company name and logo first as this is what’s important.
The Problem And The Solution
Every successful business is an answer to a specific problem. Coke is an answer to thirst. Mcdonald’s is an answer to those sudden urges for food. Your business needs to be the answer to a problem that people face on a regular basis and your investor deck should at the very least detail this journey as well.
You’re the one to know what the problem is. Talk about what that problem is - how much it affects the problem at hand. Also, how impactful it is, and even talk about how many have tried to solve it. And Finally, how they have failed to accomplish their goals. Once you’ve detailed what that problem is, tell your investors why your idea is the answer to that very problem as well.
The Concept
The pitch deck should also include the concept behind your business. This is basically the idea of the startup itself. Regardless of the idea has been done before already, you’ll need to present it well to your seed investors. Tell them what makes your idea unique. The concept is the key selling point for all businesses including startups.
If you’re going to make your investor’s pitch better, then you definitely need to work on making your concept stand out. It should be interesting enough to get the attention of the investors and it should also be simple enough to actually get the attention of customers and future consumers as well.
Your concept is basically the backbone of your entire business and the more you work on it, the more beneficial it’s going to be for your business as a whole. Not a lot of people think that the concept is important as they let the product do the talking itself but remember, you are pitching to investors - a good presentation is a must.
The Competition And The Market
After you’ve detailed your concept and all the other factors such as your competition. These include direct and indirect competitors. Always keep in mind that no matter how unique your business is, there are always going to be others that compete against it.
Your investors need to see who these competitors are and they’ll also need to see what you are willing to do to beat them. It can be challenging to showcase what your edge is at first but if you study the market well, you can easily determine the things you need to do to ensure that your business is able to stay above the competition.
This part of your investor deck should also include a look at your potential target audience. Tell your investors who you are looking to attract. This includes social-demographic details, as well as your idea on how you can reach out to these people as well. It’s a very crucial aspect of your pitch.
Your Marketing Plan
Last but not the least, do not forget to reveal your marketing plan through your investor deck. Your seed investors need to know what you are planning to do to get more people on board to support your product. As with all manner of businesses, a marketing plan is very important as it’s what gives you the edge over the competition.
Creating a good marketing plan can be tough work but that’s why you need to study your audience and your competition. You’ll be basing your marketing plan on these two factors. Make sure to present it to your investors as well as they’d love to see what your idea of marketing is.
