TMHE Helps Reduce the Risk of Warehouse Accidents with SpotMe
Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE)’s SpotMe® is the new warning system for reducing the risk of forklift accidents in warehouses.Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE) identifies safety as a high priority. SpotMe® is a new solution for warehouse environments to help reduce the likelihood of accidents for both forklifts and pedestrians. With its highly trained staff and service technicians, OHSAS 18001 certified factories and unique forklift safety measures, such as the Toyota SAS (System of Active Stability), TMHE seeks to constantly strengthen its reputation for delivering safe products and services.
Toyota SpotMe® incorporates innovative infra-red technology, which is able to detect the presence of approaching forklifts and pedestrians. The device can be used at crossroad junctions and, to avoid potential impact, it gives off a warning flash, helping to reduce the risk of forklift accidents.
Toyota SpotMe® has been specifically designed for the high protection of the factory workers and the transported merchandise. It contributes to an overall smoother traffic flow. Consequently, the forklift drivers use less panic brakes, which helps reduce energy consumption and better preserve the forklifts during operations. This unique accident prevention system is user-friendly, easy to fix on the walls, with no set-up on fleet required, and needs low maintenance. The warning unit can be either connected to a standalone battery or plugged into the mains.
“Warehouses are fast-moving working environments that call for extra attention from forklift drivers and pedestrians alike, especially in blind spots. SpotMe® uses alternating flashing lights that are much more visible than flashing beacons or other types of warning lights. Today, this device has proven its efficiency, both in increasing the safety level and in driving down costs,” says Hans Larsson, Director, Toyota Material Handling Europe.
SpotMe® is one of the initiatives that TMHE takes to raise risk awareness during the “European Week for Health and Safety at Work” taking place from 22nd to 26th October 2012. This event is supported by the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work (EU-OSHA) as part of the 2012-2013 campaign “Working Together for Risk Prevention”.
As a committed EU-OSHA official campaign partner, TMHE strives to find the best risk prevention methods that help employees, partners and customers stay “Safer Together”.
