Emerging Africa E-Commerce & Last Mile Logistics Virtual Summit 2021

Emerging Africa E-Commerce & Last Mile Logistics Virtual Summit 2021

The last 18 months marked the most dynamic period for the world including Africa with the outbreak of COVID 19 pandemic.

E-commerce in Africa has experienced exceptional growth with the number of online shoppers having increased by 18% annually since 2014, compared to the global average of 12% (UNCTAD 2018). Statista predicts that between 2020 and 2025, African e-commerce will increase at a compound annual growth rate of 15.5%. If growth is to continue at the same rate through 2030, the total market size in Africa will reach $84 billion (Statista 2020).

As home to the world’s youngest population and the fastest growing mobile telecommunications market, Africa has rapidly embraced mobile technologies and the digital economy. Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, Rwanda and Morocco have seen competitive growth in e-commerce, and many e-commerce start-ups have made significant inroads and begun to establish their foothold in selected markets.

Magenta Global will be hosting the inaugural Emerging Africa E-Commerce & Last Mile Logistics Virtual Summit 2021 on October 26-27. The online conference will bring together the top minds in e-commerce, and present best practices for sellers, merchants, retailers and marketplaces as they pivot to build market share, generate revenue, and optimize profitability across the rapidly-developing African continent.

The Virtual Summit will deep dive into the "E-Commerce Market Readiness in Africa – Navigating the Evolving Landscape, Growth Opportunities and Challenges"; "Realities of the African Retail Ecosystem – The ‘New Next’ for Retail"; "Best Practices in Building a Sustainable E-Commerce Business in Africa"; "Innovations in Cross-Border Digital Payments Platforms – Building Trust and Keeping Customers Safe"; "Emerging Mobile Apps Trends"; "Overcoming Challenges in E-Commerce Logistics and Innovations in Last Mile Fulfilment"; "Accelerating MSME e-commerce", and much more.

Thought leaders and industry professionals sharing their insights include Georges V Houngbonon, Digital Economist, International Finance Corporation; Paul Asinor, Executive Director, eCommerce Association of Ghana; Scott D Williams, Vice President Asia & Africa, TOJOY Shared Capital Holdings (China); Akinwunmi Ogunnusi, Vice President Fulfillment, Omnibiz Africa (Nigeria); Ruhi Sittarwala, Founder & CEO, Emmerce Ltd (Kenya); Mahesh Narayan, Global Product Lead – Mobile Money & E-Commerce, Standard Chartered Bank; Pierre-Guy Cadet, Senior Partnerships Lead, what3words (UK); among others.

Maggie Tan, CEO of the conference-organizing company, Magenta Global (Singapore), said: “The African retail landscape is rapidly evolving. The acceleration in e-commerce has given opportunities to many retailers, start-ups, and fintechs – both big and small. Of critical importance is getting the fundamentals right. We are very thrilled to host this summit. Attendance is free for all Retailers, Merchants and Brands.”

Industry Partners of the Virtual Summit include the e-Commerce Association of Ghana (e-CAG), the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), Payments Association of Zambia (PAYZ), and e-commerce logistics community Parcel Monitor.
