ISSA’s Northern Virginia Chapter Recognizes 3Delta Systems’ Founder and COO during National Cyber Security Awareness Month

CHANTILLY, Va. – October 22, 2012 – Aaron Bills, founder and chief operating officer of 3Delta Systems, Inc.® (3DSI) http://www.3DSI.com, has been named a Senior Member of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA). He received the recognition at ISSA’s Northern Virginia chapter meeting on October 18.

Bills, whose distinguished career spans 13 years in the business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) payments industry, has been at the helm of 3Delta Systems since its formation in 1999, guiding and growing the company’s online hosted software-as-a-service (SaaS) payment services and charting 3DSI’s security business model as product architect and strategist.

Under Bills’ leadership, 3DSI was an early adopter of data security best practices for safely processing credit card transactions long before the financial services industry adopted what are known today as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Bills and others at 3Delta Systems have been actively involved with the PCI Council since its inception, and the company has been consistently certified as PCI-compliant since 2004.

In 2003, Bills and his team at 3Delta Systems pioneered credit card tokenization technology called CardVault® http://www.3dsi.com/products/cardvault-tokenization.htm that enables merchants to exchange their customers’ confidential card data for randomly generated payment “tokens,” a process that safely replaces real card numbers with a string of characters which then become useless to would-be hackers.

Bills was also the driver behind Payment WorkSuite®, http://www.3dsi.com/products/pws.htm a high-performance payment processing platform unveiled in 2011 that helps businesses and government agencies increase their productivity, cut operating costs and lower risk by balancing numerous security, operational, financial and compliance requirements.

“Our chapter is proud to acknowledge Aaron for his contributions, not only to our chapter but to the information security industry. Without the safeguards like those Aaron helped develop and implement, online commerce in the United States might not be flourishing as it is now. ISSA is proud to have such an outstanding member as Aaron Bills,” said Alex Grohmann, president of ISSA’s Northern Virginia chapter.

“I have valued my involvement with ISSA over the years and its mission to support infosec professionals, and I appreciate that this recognition comes during National Cyber Security Awareness Month,” said Bills. “I’ve always believed that good information security is a continual work in progress, much like continuous quality improvement at an ISO 9000-certified manufacturer. I'm also a firm believer in ongoing training and learning – not just about technology, but how hackers in the real world are able to penetrate sophisticated computer networks. At 3Delta Systems, we're always on the lookout for ways to toughen our defenses and get better at what we do. And by embedding a deep ethic of security awareness throughout our company and within our industry, we can help promote a culture of security awareness and responsibility that is embraced by organizations of every size and scope.”

ISSA is an international association of cybersecurity practitioners dedicated to protecting privacy, data and systems for businesses, government, education, health care and law enforcement. Of approximately 10,000 ISSA members worldwide, only 2.5 percent are Senior Members. Designees must have at least 10 years of experience in information security, have a history of contributions to the information security profession and been ISSA members for a minimum of five years. More details are available at www.issa.org.

National Cyber Security Awareness Month, conducted every October since 2004 by the National Cyber Security Alliance, heightens awareness of cyber security issues and promotes best practices for online safety among businesses, governments and the general public. Once again, the Alliance recognized 3Delta Systems as a Champion of this year’s campaign. For more details, visit www.staysafeonline.org/ncsam/.
