The newly launched architecture magazine “Uncube” was bestowed with gold by the Annual Multimedia Award 2013, making it one of five top winners in the category “website/portal.”

Uncubemagazine.com is the new English-language website from BauNetz Media, which also runs Baunetz.de, the largest web portal for architecture in the German-speaking world. “With Uncube we are entering the international market for the first time, and we’re doing so with an entirely new media concept – so in that respect we’re especially pleased about the positive feedback from the jury,” said BauNetz CEO Jürgen Paul. The development of the website took place in close collaboration with the Berlin design agency Projektbüro Henkel.Hiedl.

Uncube is published twice monthly and combines the virtues of print magazines with the functionality of the Internet: unlike typical websites and blogs, Uncube intentionally limits the information it presents. Every issue has a defined extent with a beginning and an end: you can leaf through it like a magazine, and it features large format images and multi-columned text. Simple navigation allows you to skip over an article and begin reading at any page, and a reader function lets you concentrate entirely on the text when you want.

Every issue is designed “by hand” and animated. To achieve this, our own content editor was developed to enable the contents of each page – text, photo or video – to be optimally displayed. Thanks to responsive design, Uncube adapts itself to every device with a current browser. In addition to the magazine, a news section presents selected news items and interesting findings.

The Annual Multimedia Award is regarded as an “award for digital branding communication,” and has been highlighting the trends in digital marketing and multimedia design since 1996.

BauNetz Media is a Berlin based media company, specialized on architecture and design. With over 7 million page views and 1 million visits per month, Baunetz.de has the greatest online impact among architecture portals in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Also published by BauNetz: Baunetzwissen.de, Designlines.de, Uncubemagazine.com
