Press release from: RUBICON 2007

Business Students from all over the world can now send in their applications for the highly reputable international student contest “Rubicon”, which will take place at the Business and Information Technology School, BiTS in Iserlohn, Germany. The application deadline is July 31, 2007.

For the second time, Rubicon invites students from German and International universities and business schools, to join the competition and meet fellow students from around the world. From September 24 until September 26 the participating students will get the chance to exchange their knowledge among each other and with business experts and jury members with long-lasting experience.

During the competition, the teams will have to compete in three rounds to convince the jury, consisting of business experts, university professors and students. Important factors are knowledge of the topic, the ability to quickly adapt to the task and to convince through competence. Rubicon wants to support not only the contestants’ economic thinking, but also to strengthen the intercultural understanding and to build connections.

“We also want to give the contestants the unique opportunity to participate in workshops in which they will learn how to boost their career. This year we want to invite the best 20 teams to Iserlohn in order to give them the chance to translate their theoretical knowledge into action“, explains Steffen F. Schmidt, spokesperson of Rubicon.

Last year it was the Lithuanian team „4Unlimited“, that was able to win the 3000 Euro Rubicon-Prize. This year it might be students from Istanbul, Mumbai or Hawaii, who might get the chance to compete in the contest. Last year’s teams came from Lithuania, China, Pakistan, Russia, Latvia, England, India, Colombia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Italy, Denmark, Estonia, and Germany.

Beside the prize money the Grande-Prize this year will be free admission to the Campus Symposium 2007 for the four best teams. There the Rubicon winners will get the chance to meet former UN-Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, in person.
