Awards recognize innovation, creativity and outstanding contribution in the media management field

Norwegian software company FotoWare has opened nominations for the annual Media Management Award 2021, the only awards that honor outstanding, creative and unique projects, campaigns and individuals working with digital assets, including graphics, videos and photos.

Now open for entries, the Media Management Award 2021 offers a chance for industry recognition for those who can showcase best practice and practical examples of managing and working with digital assets.

The awards are open to all organisations and individuals, regardless of industry, location or professional background, with nominations for “Best Media Management” project work across four categories: Retail & Manufacturing, Media & Entertainment, Police & Law Enforcement and Other Industries. A category celebrating the Best Media Management Individual will award a person who has made an outstanding contribution in managing media.

Each project and individual entries will be judged based on a combination of innovation – how the project / person uses new technology or ways of doing something; impact - how the project / person has had a sustainable impact on the organisation’s goals or benefit to the wider community; and responsibility - how the project / person incorporates values and takes data security and accessibility into account.

The global judging panel is made up of jurors including Andrea Jones, who headed up last year’s winning team at The Royal Preston Hospital, Mr Guel from Hamburg Police, Julia Hatfield from Reuters, Mari Hoftun from oda and Andreas Gnutzmann from FotoWare.

Royal Preston Hospital deployed a digital asset management (DAM) solution to help its central hospital nursing team overcome visiting restrictions and reduce the number of patient appointments during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year’s finalists were The White House Historical Association (WHHA) and The South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC).

The WHHA was also recognised for turning its Digital Library into a self-sustaining enterprise, generating revenue by allowing customers to acquire and license historical images. While the SATC used an API to improve its website during the pandemic, and today the SATC’s virtual assets are readily available to internal and external users.

“The number of people who work with and manage digital assets is growing and will only continue to increase. Our annual awards were set up to identify and acknowledge those who standout in the media management sector, and are digital asset management solutions and similar tools to collate and organize a significant volume of assets. FotoWare’s Media Management Award 2021 seeks to highlight those contributions that are also driving business success,” explained FotoWare’s CEO, Anne Gretland.

FotoWare invites individuals and organizations to nominate by 1 November 2021. The shortlist will be announced on 22 November 2021 with the winners named on November 29, 2021.
